Sheila Claims First Victory On Big Brother 9

Big Brother 9, CBS 2 Comments

After over 60 days in the house, Sheila has finally won her first challenge and first taste of power. On last Wednesday we were left with the houseguests dangling in their “torture chambers” as they vied for HoH. Sharon was the first to drop out, citing that she hurt her back the night before. For some reason I think Sharon throws a bunch of these challenges. She knows she’ll go up but seeing her streak, she also stays each and every time. After about two hours the deal making began. Sheila wanted the HoH badly but Natalie and Ryan knew they to be safe. Sheila told Ryan fairly early that she wouldn’t put him up since he saved her, but Natalie was a different story. Natalie was worried Sheila would put her up so Sheila promised her she wouldn’t be nominated. When Adam and Sharon returned outside Ryan quickly dropped. This mean Natalie should have dropped to give Sheila the win. But Natalie took her good old time, saying she couldn’t do it since she wasn’t a quitter.

After about 30 minutes of Natalie wavering back and forth and asking “what would Jesus do”, she dropped down giving Sheila the win. I’m happy for Sheila as she has been playing an interesting game and could possibly win. It was obvious who she would put up, Adam and Sharon, so they spent the rest of the episode promoting the “Natalie has lied to everyone” bit. It was all about Natalie and her lies and basicially securing the votes for her to go. The plan is for Adam to come off the block and Natalie going up and out. Although that was the center of the show, Sheila’s HoH room played a huge one as well. She was the only one to not see her family since the show began so it was nice to see her react to that. All in all it was a pretty good episode. Will the plan to get Natalie out work? Find out next Wednesday when I’ll tell you!

Rehashing The Week in Reality

Big Brother 9, Celebrity Apprentice, Paradise Hotel 2, Survivor, Survivor Micronesia, The Apprentice No Comments

This week brought major news in the world of Reality TV. With several news show about to begin, information is slowly being leaked and casts are being revealed. It was such a huge week in reality tv that I’m going to do one big review about so let’s begin:

It’s Time to Renew: Two major reality shows got renewed for more seasons this week. Survivor will be airing at least two more seasons after Micronesia and yes Jeff is returning. This is great news for all those who have been waiting to turn 21 to apply and gives me high hopes it will continue far into it’s 20s for seasons. A more shocking renewal was the Celebrity Apprentice. It seems like NBC likes the new celebrity format so it is returning for at least one more season and it will air next January. Mark Burnett says that the celebrities on the show have raised over a million dollars so far, so that could be one of the reasons NBC chose to pick it back up.

No News is BAD News: Two new seasons of shows that generally air in the summer will be put on for a special Winter edition this year and those are Big Brother 9 and Paradise Hotel 2. Both have kept their format and cast very secret only leaving commercials to tease about would COULD happen. All the Big Brother fanatics watched Julie Chen walk onto the Late Show stage Tuesday night but nothing came of it. Julie revealed NOTHING about the seasons but rather gave us a history lesson of the shows past. Paradise Hotel has been less secretive as it’s initial cast has been released only in pictures. It’s also being reported that one of the players committed suicide after the show completed but his scenes will still air.

Survivor Adds More Twists and two more Rombers: Jeff Probst in his pre-show interviews revealed a little to much about the season it seems. Micronesia will once again feature an exile island but this time two people will go to it each round. One player from each tribe will visit the desolate island together and will have to fight in order to find the single hidden idol in the game. If that weren’t news enough, Jeff let it slip that not one but TWO relationships formed over the course of the 39 days. Is it just me or were they trying to top Romber and the preview All Star season? It will be interesting to see WHO forms these bonds. My guess is its on the fans tribe but you never know.

Big Brother 9 - Where there are secrets there are rumors

Big Brother 9, CBS No Comments

With BB9 only a few weeks away, the rumors are starting to fly about this seasons very secretive theme. First of all it seems like the theme has taken on a world of its own and that is secrets. Everyone has secrets obviously but CBS is keeping this season the most secretive yet. We know very little about the new “special winter edition” and know less about it’s cast. So far the only credible information we have is that BB9 starts on February 12th, Julie Chen is back as host, there is only one house and there will be 14 houseguests.

Other than that we know basically nothing. People are also assuming that the “Dirty Little Secret” tune in the commercials means this will be a secret themed season once again. We don’t KNOW this for a fact but it does seem reliable that this will be the case. Now to go along with this theme there are several rumors flying around as to what the “secrets” could be. Here are a few and what I think about them.

One rumor that started lately is that Eric, Dick or both will be back in the house for BB9. Dick has since said this is false (of course he’d have to say that) but I doubt that would have him back anyway. Eric coming back is possible since well he didn’t really play for himself last season. Of course Eric has his own secret in the house so therefore that fits with the secret theme as well. I’d like to see Eric back…. eventually, but not now. It’s too soon and he’d have too big of a target to even make it worth him coming back again.

The 2nd big rumor is that all the houseguests will come in with some secret that they either have to hide from them others or the secrets will be exposed right away. One rumor is that a transsexual person will be in the house as well, one of the “secrets”. I’m not too sure on this one as we’ve had this rumor almost every season since season 6. It would obviously get ratings at some point and probably cause some controversy, but then again when hasn’t BB caused controversy.

I like the idea of everyone having some sort of secret they have to hide, but then again there are drawbacks. First of all when some find out that this is the “twist” they will probably want to quit. It would suck to have even one person quit, but maybe they hope that happens to shorten the run of the show. Another thing is that well, some secrets are obviously going to outweigh others, such as last seasons twist did. Jessica and Carol being enemies was basically a joke and had little impact on the game while as we saw Dick and Dani’s did. They have to make the show, and secrets, even or as close as possible. I don’t want one secret to be that they “stole from the grocery store” when another is they “murdered someone”. I mean come on, get us JUICY secrets for everyone. If that happens I’ll be satisfied.

Like I said above, nothing is really known for sure about BB9 yet, so take everything here with a grain of salt. All we can hope for is an amazing season for this winter and hopefully BB delivers!

TAR12: TK & Rachel Win One Amazing Season

CBS, The Amazing Race No Comments

At the start of the finale episode of The Amazing Race 12 I found myself for some odd reason, although not liking them since the start, wanting TK and Rachel to win it all. I knew they were pretty far behind Ron and Christina and I always root for the underdog for some odd reason. The top 3 teams this season were all underdogs in some respect but I didn’t want TK/Rachel to win until tonight. At first I wanted Don/Nick to win but quickly realized they probably wouldn’t catch up at all. Christina/Ron were in the lead the entire episode up until the last 10 minutes. The show finally pulled of a final challenge that was tight and didn’t really give one team the advantage and be the last thing they did until the finish line. By adding in a few final clues before the game came to an end they gave us one last nail bitter to the mat, even if it was editing induced.

Coming into this season of the Amazing Race I knew they had to pull off something well…. Amazing if they wanted a lucky 13th season. After the lackluster All Stars it seemed like the race was on its last leg but amazingly they pulled off one hell of a season! The casting was perfect as no team was dull from the start, which the race was in desperate need of. Each team was unique and had something special about them that made them interesting to watch. We had teams evolve throughout the race, several nail biting finishes and amazing moments to remember that season 12 will go down in the history books as the season that saved the Amazing Race. I congratulate TK and Rachel on their win after so much adversary in the past few legs and thank all the other teams (especially Nick/Don and Vyxsin/Kynt) for their entertainment these last few weeks. I look forward to the Amazing Race 13 and hope they can top themselves all over again!
