The Mole Finale Slated For August 11th

ABC, The Mole No Comments

After the latest episode of the Mole, some were left scratching their heads as the preview didn’t say the finale would be next week. I must admit I was somewhat stumped as well but TV Guide has come to the rescue! There is not one but two more episodes remaining to this season of the Mole. Below are the last two airing dates along with a short preview of what the episodes will be about.

August 4th: Two missions will test the skills of the three remaining contestants. Then, one final quiz sets the stage for the big reveal.

August 11th (Finale): The winner, the Mole’s last victim and the Mole are revealed in the fifth-season finale after all 12 players reunite.

Everyone Acts The Part On The Mole

ABC, The Mole No Comments

In the last Mole Alex was executed from the game which set a few people wondering who the Mole could be. Both Mark and Nicole thought Alex was the Mole and both were glad that he was gone. It means they now can move on to someone else and stop answering wrong. I don’t see it as good for them because now they know that they were obviously wrong, especially Mark. Guess all of his note taking didn’t help out too much after all!

Going into the next mission the final five were looking for a twist and they got one. Before they found out what the mission was they were asked to, once again, split into two teams. The “dumb” team would have two people and both Nicole and Craig quickly scooped up those spots. That left Paul, Mark and Clay in the “smart” team. What they had to do was run around Mendoza looking for clues to a number trivia question. Since they stupidly chose the dumb team, Nicole and Craig were given two more questions then the smart team and there was the slight twist. To win the $30,000 for the pot they had to get all of the questions correct which to me seemed kind of hard.

Nicole and Craig seemed to do well throughout the entire mission. They easily found all of their clues and seemed to remember them throughout the mission. Nicole however was less Moleish for once as Craig tried to mess her up several times. Their only problem was their last question where both seemed to get different numbers several times. Was that Craig messing things up once again or Nicole throwing her moleish behaviour in? The smart team had some problems as well. In their first question Clay tried to make Mark think that his number was wrong. Mark quickly proved him wrong with simple math and makes me wonder if Clay is the Mole now. On the other hand we has Paul who pulled a more visible sabotage. He misdirected the three guys 8 blocks from their final location which made the two others think Paul was the Mole. To be short all five players pulled some Moleish behaviour and I honestly have NO clue who it is right now.

When all the teams returned they quickly put in their numbers and they found out that the last question for the dumb team was wrong. It was the hardest I must say, counting over 200 tiles and lamp posts. Nicole was then given one last chance to check the number but while she was gone Clay figured that there was a pattern to the numbers. Nicole returned and gave them a number that was different then Clay’s so the guys went with their fellow man and took Clay’s word over Nicole’s word. Lucky they did since Clay’s pattern was right and they gained $30,000 with 10 seconds to remain.

Following the mission both Mark and Clay had a sit down. Mark believes that the Mole is either Craig or Nicole. Clay told Mark that he said Nicole was the Mole for the last quiz but also let us know that he took his coalition with Mark with a “grain of salt”. Following that chat Clay went to Nicole and had a little chat with her. He told her that he said that Craig was the Mole in the last quiz and she says that she did the same. They seem to have formed a new coalition and it should be interesting to see which alliance Clay sticks with in the end.

The following day the final five move out of Mendoza and over to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. When they finally arrived it was time for their next mission. Each player was first asked to choose someone they trust the most in the game. Mark chose Clay, Paul chose Mark, Craig chose Clay, Clay chose Nicole and Nicole chose Mark. What they didn’t know is that the person they chose would be the deciding factor between seeing a family member and not seeing a family member. When everyone heard they would get to see a loved one they all wanted the prize more then the money but like I said, it all came down to the person they chose to play for them.

First up was Craig who had to give Clay answers to several trivia questions on his friend Brendi. If Clay could get three out of five questions correct then Brendi’s train door would open and he would get to spend time with her. Oh yeah, $10,000 would also be added to the pot. Luckily Clay remembered enough questions to get Paul’s friend to exit the train as he did with Mark’s wife as well. Thanks Nicole Clay’s wife was able to exit the train and thanks to Mark, Nicole’s mother also got to spend time with the group. With four out of the five able to spend time with their family and $40,000 added to the pot so far, Paul was last to go. He wasn’t able to answer several of the questions which made it nerve racking to see if he would get to see his wife and daughter. Luckily Mark was able to get three questions right out of the so few that Paul answered and each of the final five got to spend time with their families and gained $50,000 for the pot. It’s amazing how well they did and I’m very glad the Mole didn’t sabotage this one since it really meant a lot to each member of the team.

The following day the group got to spend time with their loved ones. Nicole spent the time letting her mother know how badly beaten she is from the game. She feels that she is an outsider in the game and lets her mother know that she wants to quit the game and go home. Her mom told her to do so and basically egged her on to quit, does this mean Nicole isn’t the Mole? Before the quiz Nicole let the cameras know she will self execute herself by throwing the quiz. Later that night she was given the chance to do so as it was time for the quiz.

Before the quiz each family member was asked if their loved one was the Mole. Only Paul’s wife and Craig’s friend thought they could be the Mole while Nicole let her mom know about a few rounds ago where she wanted to kill Paul. Her mom took it rather well, once again egging her on a bit to do so. Oddly enough Nicole wasn’t sent home but Clay was instead. Nicole said as Clay exited that she couldn’t do it but I’m somewhat thinking she is the Mole now and this was all done to throw us off. Clay was a big player in the game, although he had little Molish behaviour. It should be interesting to see next weeks episode and if Nicole’s idea to quit continues or now.

A Few Too Many Gets One Mole Player Executed

ABC, The Mole No Comments

The Mole finally returns after a week of hiatus with more fighting and more sabotage. After the elimination of Kristen and the reveal that Nicole is the last woman standing everyone had something to say. Nicole for one was happy to be the last lady in the game but didn’t want that to be her only claim to fame. She wants to win but who doesn’t. Paul, as usual, also had a comment as his main goal isn’t to win but rather just to beat Nicole. They hate each other, what can I say.

Still in Mendoza the team was taken to a vineyard to begin their next mission. Before beginning the group of six was split into two teams of three. One was the “athletic” group while one was the “smart” group. On the athletic team was Mark, Clay and Alex who chose Mark to be their runner for the mission. The smart group consisted of Nicole, Paul and Craig with Paul being the communicator. Although Mark was easily chosen, Paul yelled that he’s the best to communicate because of his loud mouth. I must agree with him there.

The point of the mission was for the thinkers to answer trivia questions which would lead to a coordinate of a hidden wine bottle. Paul would then have to send the coordinates to Alex and Clay using a cell phone and they would be the ones searching for the wine. Mark’s job was to keep time as he was running on a treadmill. Better yet, each time a bottle of wine was found the treadmill would go faster. Basically if he fell off the mission was over and there went the possible $70,000 they could odd to the pot.

For the thinkers the time was rather interesting as it focused mostly on Nicole and Mark. Nicole would “guess” an answer while Mark would correct her even though he was doing the treadmill at the same time. Paul’s mouth got in a way a bit as well as he and Nicole has another spat as he erased one of her incorrect answers. She didn’t take to kindly to that and egged him to continue their feud once again. For Alex and Clay their job was simply to run where Paul told them too in hopes of finding a bottle. They were only given one wrong coordinate so that’s good on the thinkers part but it was also on them to run fast enough to get back before Mark’s legs gave out. In the end they did just that and found all 7 bottles. This put $70,000 into the pot along with a few more suspicions on who could be the mole.

Following the mission everyone relaxed back at the hotel. Paul and Alex chatted a bit and both seem to think that Nicole could be the Mole. Over in Clay and Marks room things were a bit off as Clay was beginning to think that Mark really was the Mole. Mark on the other hand can’t believe that Nicole could be the Mole but rather thinks that it is Alex. He knows that Alex has been drinking a lot of wine at the quizzes yet stays each time. That led Clay to realize Alex as the mole as well so tonight’s quiz will surely be interesting.

Although the last mission gave the team $70,000 another $60,000 and an exemption was at stake at the next mission. Everyone was led to a bridge in Mendoza that crossed the river of Mendoza. Here they would have to “simply” bungee off the bridge and throw a bag into a target laying on the ground. The target ranged from $10,000 to $4,000 and each player was given the chance to guess the total amount the team would win in order to gain an exemption. In the end the person closest to the correct amount would be safe at the next quiz.

Mark was up first and seemed to have no trouble at first but got nervous when he stepped onto the platform. After guessing his exemption amount he quickly jumped off but missed the target by only a few feet. Paul and Clay went next and both missed the target as well. Next up was Craig’s and him jumping over anything is always scary. He didn’t seem to want to do it but jumped for the chance at exemption. Although he almost splatted on the ground he didn’t hit the target so with that Alex was up next. He seemed to be scared but it seemed like an act to me. He luckily hit $4,000 putting at least some money in the pot. Last up was Nicole who had been saying she wouldn’t do it the whole time. In the end she did jump, rather well I must say, and also did not get any money. So after all six jumped only $4,000 was put into the pot and no exemptions were rewarded as everyone guesses way too high.

At dinner Mark and Clay put their plan to work to make sure Alex had a bit too much wine to drink. In the end it seems it may have pulled off as Alex was the one executed with the dreaded red thumb. It was a bit shocking since his name was read first but I guess that doesn’t always mean your safe. Next week should be interesting as family members enter the game but how will that play out? It seems like it will be part of the mission where the players must choose not to see their family in hopes of adding money to the pot.

Ali Bribed and Bobby Executed From The Mole

ABC, The Mole No Comments

Last weeks Mole left us with some things to ponder. Like would Nicole really kill Paul in sleep and could she REALLY do it without leaving DNA evidence? The answer to both these questions is no as Paul was still alive come the next day. Good thing Nicole didn’t go through with it though since now we get to see her and Paul continue their feud! The next morning everyone, including Paul, awoke and Nicole’s tirade was the talk of the town. Paul wanted to use it to his advantage and Ali ate it up. She finally spoke for once and let us know that her hatred for Nicole is growing along with Paul’s. It seems the cliques are starting early and we learn about a new coalition that’s apparently been on for the past two episodes. Mark, Bobby and Clay are now in a coalition to share information on who they think is the Mole. Of course it won’t last long though as we soon find out.

In the first mission the players are forced into two sides, the “Can’t Trust” and “Blindly Trusts” groups. They then had to pair up with someone from the opposite side, creating five teams of two. The mission was fairly simple yet risky. Each pair would luge down a metal track with the person in the front blindfolded. The person in the back had to yell out pictures of fruit that they saw and the person who was blindfolded would then have to pick out those fruits in put them in order. For each fruit they got right, $2,000 would be put into the pot. They had strict orders to not talk after they passed the finish line but of course that wasn’t the case for some.

First up was Bobby and Clay. Bobby was the one yelling out the fruit and seemed confusing as he didn’t yell out the colors right away. They got 5/7 right but talked after crossing the finish line so they got no money. Next up was Ali and Paul who got a legitimate 5/7 for the team. Victoria and Craig broke the “no talking” rule as well and lost $14,000 as they got all seven fruits right but broke the rules. Kristen and Mark were the first to get all seven right and actually keep the money while Alex and Nicole had an interesting ride. She yelled out “green apple” twice which put Alex off by one for the fruit selection. This gained them one point and made everyone wonder how she could screw up so badly.

That night the coalition between Bobby and Clay/Mark ended. Clay and Mark now believe Bobby to be the mole and want nothing to do with him. Although they say they will talk to him if he comes to them, they won’t go to him for anymore information. The day the crew heads out for a nice spa retreat. Of course they all thought something was up but it seemed legit… at first. They spent some time in the pool and hot tub and then some time getting massages. Of course John showed up to screw things up and start their next mission.

Once again the players were split up. Kristen, Victoria and Ali made up one team, Bobby, Craig and Nicole another and the last team consisted of Bobby and Alex. Once Mark and Clay found out what the challenge was they dropped out because they had too much “pride” apparently. John then filled them in on the mission, they had to walk around Chile in their underwear looking for a shirt, tie and pants for the guys and a two piece shirt and skirt/pants for the girls. Alex and Paul had the easiest time once again thanks to Alex’s knowledge of Spanish. They quickly found shirts from cab drivers and pants from a few Americans. Kristen, Victoria and Ali had the hardest time it seemed. They couldn’t’ find any clothing for the longest time and Ali even almost quit. This put suspicion on both Kristen and Victoria but they kept moving and eventually got lucky enough to get fully dressed for dinner. In the third and find team was Nicole, who found her clothing faster then anyone, and Bobby and Craig. The two guys had a hard time finding clothing but once they want the laundry mat with their real clothing they were all set. Since 8/9 people made it to dinner they claimed an extra $40,000 for the pot putting them at $129,000 for the entire game.

That night at the pre-quiz dinner things got pretty heated. It all started when Paul said that Mark was playing the game hardcore and the two then went at it for a bit. Bobby, Craig and Nicole then barged in and Nicole’s statement from the last execution came into play. Of course she played the ‘nice’ card, which angered Paul a bit, but he had different plans. He wanted to get everyone heated before the quiz in hopes it would screw up their chances for a green thumb.

At the execution something interesting happened. John offered everyone $20,000 to leave the game right then and there, nobody bit the bait. Three people were then shown to be safe and another $10,000 added to the bribe. Ali was the first to take the $30,000 and walked out of the game. Funny thing is they all thought they were safe since she left and Bobby even said he wouldn’t take the money. John then came back and let them all know someone else was still going home. Bobby was then shown to get the red thumb and his words came back to bite him. Did Paul take out his biggest enemy by causing a ruckus at dinner? Who knows but something got to Bobby. That takes two more out of the game and puts us at the final eight. Next week it seems the drama continues as Mark’s crazy side is revealed, probably thanks to Paul.

The Mole Executes Its “Mole Mother”

ABC, The Mole No Comments

The Mole is once again growing on me as the first season did and I’m enjoying the new Mole just as I did the first. Tonight marked the second episode of the new season and it was much better then the first. Knowing the people helped a lot I think but the Mole does one thing better then most reality television shows. That is the way they handle their challenges, basically focusing the entire show on just that: the missions.

We jumped in right away to the night following Marcie’s execution and it was time for the next mission. With only $35,000 in the pot to start it was obvious everyone wanted to win. They had the chance to double their prize money by winning an addition $35,000 but they had to work for it of course! The 11 remaining players were told to divide into two groups. One group would be going for an “uphill battle” while the other team had to play a soccer game then ride a gondola to the mountain. Mark and Kristen were chosen to do the uphill battle and were told if they beat the other 9 players up the hill, by riding a bike that is, they would win an exemption.

The eight who didn’t get to start their trek up the hill first had to score a goal against great Chilean soccer players. They just ended up to be KID Chilean soccer players. At first everyone underestimated the kids. Bobby, the self proclaimed soccer expert, said it would be over in 10 minutes. Yeah right! They ended up not scoring a goal in the allotted 20 minutes since the “soccer greats” Alex and Bobby basically sucked. Paul didn’t do too well either but he doesn’t remember that. After the 20 minutes they were allowed to shoot penalty goals to score. Alex went first being the amazing soccer player he is and show the ball right at the kid goalie. Great going there Alex! Ali was up next and easily scored a goal, giving the team the ability to start going towards the summit.

Meanwhile up the hill went Kristen and Mark. It was obvious they didn’t care that the pot wouldn’t grow if they made it there first as they sped up the mountain. Their chain on the bike broke several times though (producer induced?) which mad it a bit more difficult. They ended up walking/running most the way with spurts of bike riding. Half way up they met Jon for a drink and he gave them the chance to take a taxi the rest of the way. The catch was they would lose $5,000 of the $35,000 they already won. Mark quickly denied since he didn’t want to be bothered and they went on their way back up the hill.

Now that the soccer was over it was time to actually find the gondola’s. I’m sure we’ve all seen the statue of the Virgin Mary in Chile several times on the Amazing Race now so it’s no big deal seeing it again. But don’t you think they would just look for that and head that way? Victoria and Alex took the lead and went off without everyone. Apparently the rest found a “shortcut” but it didn’t get them there any faster. Craig and Liz were the obvious slackers as they were in previous challenges. Liz played a bit moleish with her “my feet hurt” and “I have to pee” comments while Craig kind of didn’t make excuses. Bobby on the other hand was back with them which is odd. Bobby is rail thin and well obviously not in shape. He said he played soccer for how many years yet he can’t run? Give me a break! Soccer is a running sport so obviously he lied about playing soccer or he’s playing a mole’s game.

In the end the team finally made it to the summit together. But they were surprised when Jon called down both Mark and Kristen who got there before them. This gave both Kristen and Mark an exemption from the execution and meant no money went into the pot. At lunch temperatures boiled over as Paul let loose on Bobby. He told him it wasn’t right to say he was the best soccer player then basically die on the field. Victoria was the only one who stood up for Bobby and its obvious her and Bobby are becoming close friends or maybe even an alliance. She stood up for him again that night when Paul went off on Bobby again. This time he also took it out on Victoria who claims she will never forgive Paul and reminded us all Paul did the same thing as Bobby during the challenge: died on the field.

The next morning everyone was up for their next mission. They once again split into groups, three groups of three and one group of two. Paul once again took the “two person” group along with Liz. The other teams were split as follows: Bobby/Kriste/Craig, Victoria/Alex/Nicole and Ali/Mark/Clay. Before the mission started Jon told everyone one more exemption was up for grabs. What the mission entailed was that the teams of three had to search through a town looking for clay piggy banks with a green thumbprint on them. They would then have to bring back the piggy banks and slingshot them over a wall where Liz and Paul would “hopefully” catch them. For each one they caught they would earn $1000 and they started off with one piggy bank to begin with.

Paul was smart in this mission, I give him credit. Liz and Paul had the easy job for most of the time as the basically stood there for 40 minutes until the other teams got back. During this time Paul started rattling the piggy bank and realized someone was inside. Liz thought he was just playing with it but he then slammed it against the wall shocking not only Liz but himself as well. Inside was a exemption chip, giving Paul the third exemption for the round.

The three other teams had some interesting dynamics. It seems like everyone has turned on Alex now since he acted very cocky during the mission. He was the only one to know Spanish and used it to his advantage to get the most piggy banks with his team. The group of Ali/Mark/Clay wasn’t that interesting but did get lost during part of the mission and Mark blamed it on Ali who it seemed had nothing to do with it. The last team and the worst team was Kristen/Craig/Bobby. I felt bad for Kristen as she got stuck with both nonathletic guys but it did make for some fun scenes! Apparently Bobby’s thighs hurt from the soccer game and he couldn’t even walk. They had wheelbarrows to carry the pigs but instead it carried Bobby pushed by Kristen no less! Everyone was a bit shocked by this and there is more to come when Paul finds out!

When all the pigs were back and time almost ran out 28 pigs were caught. This put $28,000 in the pot (finally!) and makes the total prize worth $63,000 so far. Not too bad but still they had so many chances to earn more. When it was all said and done Paul revealed he won the exemption and it didn’t really get much airtime about reactions. Apparently it wasn’t that big of a deal. The one thing that did get airtime was the feud brewing between Alex/Paul and Bobby. Both are getting on Bobby’s nerves as he feels they make fun of him all the time. Alex also left his journal in Bobby’s room, which he said was on purpose, and gave Bobby the chance to get his allotted Alex bashing out for the day.

At the execution it was obvious that some people had no idea who they were going to answer as the mole. Victoria and Bobby were stunned when their names were called as being safe. During the questions Liz made a very upset shake of the head, meaning she had no idea who to answer for some of the questions. She was a good one on the show but sadly Liz, the mole mother, was executed. This episode showed her in a great light with her witty comments and possible attempts at sabotage. I wish she could have stayed longer but at least next week looks good! Apparently Nicole is no longer staying mute and you know what that means! DRAMA! I can’t wait!

The Mole Executes Its First Victim In Four Years

ABC, The Mole 1 Comment

After four years the Mole has once again returned and the conspiracy theories along with it! The fun thing about the Mole is trying to figure it out as you go along and tonight made things tough. It all began when the new host Jon Kelley introduced the cast. He’s not as good as Anderson and seems somewhat scripted but I’m sure he’ll get better. I was glad to see the cast is very diverse with a mixture of ages, locations and professions. When everyone was allowed to then talk they were quickly surprised with a mission. Everyone was given a card and told to circle who they thought was the mole. Marcie was selected and was given power for the night.

It was interesting to see how Marcie handled the mission as she had to select who would jump over a waterfall for money and who would jump for simply paper. They never really said why she chose who she did but it did make her suspicious. Some of the jumps were interesting to watch like Liz who is the 60 old lady. She showed most of the guys up by grabbing a bag while Paul showed his personality early by claiming it the worst moment of his life when the 60 lady grabbed a bag and he didn’t. The most shocking jump came from Craig who is a very “large” player if you know what I mean. As he went to jump for the bag he basically jumped down the waterfall, giving himself one heck of a leap as the safety harness grabbed him and as he said “choked him”. He didn’t get a bag but was still greeted with applause.

Marcie was then allowed to rejoin the group when it was all said and done. Only six out of the 11 bags were won and only two of them contained real money, meaning the pot starts off at $20,000. Most found her choices suspicious as she gave the “short people” the most shot at winning the money. I was somewhat shocked as well that she didn’t choose Kristen, who seemed capable, who actually did get the money yet was jumping for nothing. Marcie’s duties weren’t over as she now had to choose four people to sleep outside and the rest to sleep in a cabin. She chose Liz, Bobby, Craig and Nicole to camp out and it caused some very unneeded drama.

Learning she had to sleep outside, Nicole threw a hissy fit and actually found a way around the rules. She was told she had to “sleep outside” but was never told that she couldn’t stay inside if she didn’t sleep. So she sat in the cabin all night but well stayed up the entire time. It makes you wonder if she is the mole but I don’t think she realized it made her suspicious. The next morning the first coalition was made. Paul pulled Marcie aside and they agreed to work together towards the end. Paul then made another move towards Alex as a “fake coalition” to throw people off of his and Marcie’s alliance. He volunteered himself and Alex to drive to the next location which set off some alarms to some people. Doing exactly what Paul wanted.

At the next challenge Nicole was obviously crowned the “whiner” of the group. She then had to select who would be scavengers, appraisers and timekeepers for the mission. The scavengers had to go out and search through 40 items, bringing back any items they could tot he appraisers. The appraisers then would sift through the items, picking the five items that Robinson Caruso had with him on his island. For each they had correct they would get $5,000 added to the pot. The time keepers were in control of time basically. There was a large sand dial that they had to fill in order to keep the mission alive. Paul and Ali were the time keepers; Liz, Mark and Kristen were the appraisers and Craig, Bobby, Marcie, Alex and Victoria were the scavengers. They started off kind of rocky as the scavengers were bringing back items that made no sense. Things like blow driers and fans which could never have been used in the 1700s or even on a beach for that matter! In the first “ring of the bell” (they had three) the appraisers only had one right and that was a goat. After a few minutes the next ring gave them three answers and with a few seconds left they remained with three items correct. This meant $15,000 was added to the $20,000; giving them $35,000 possible win for the first round.

The funny thing about the whole challenge was Nicole’s “exemption” which actually made her sleep on the beach. The very thing she complained about and didn’t want to do the night before! She was happy to learn she was safe though so it’s all good. The others weren’t too fond of it though. At dinner that night everyone learned that they were going to have their first execution. Most were shocked and seemed unprepared while others were ready it seemed. I’m still not really sure who is the mole since it’s so early but if I had to guess I’d probably say Paul for some reason. Just seems weird how he would go all out to make a coalition so early without knowing much of what’s going to happen. The others had suspicious on Bobby and Craig. Bobby since he seemed to throw the mission by “walking” and Craig since it seems he has the perfect cover up. None the less I think it’s a sure thing the mole is a guy as so many people believed one of the guys was the mole and most of them stayed.

At the execution it was shown one of the changes for the season. The execution screen is now touchable! Jon touched each players picture to see if they were safe. I had a feeling it would be Mark since he had the “I’m going tonight” edit but it wasn’t him. It ended up being Marcie going home first and I was seriously shocked! She was voted as being the mole on night one yet goes home first. It’s a crazy way to start the game and hopefully it just continues to get better and better!
