James Is Safe (For Now) On Big Brother 9

Big Brother 9, CBS No Comments

With only six people left in the Big Brother house I was wondering exactly what would be on the show as this is usually when they start using stuff from earlier. Thankfully they only used some footage that was about a week old but at least it was good! The ‘old’ footage I’m talking about were the pranks on Sheila. They actually came from April Fools day and weren’t able to use some REALLY good stuff they did to Josh. They did pull some good ones on Sheila though, such as the toilet papering of her room. I’m still not sure the powder dumping falls as ’safe’ in the rule book but I guess it was all in good fun.

The food competition was actually pretty interesting. It’s funny how much more entertaining it was was music and editing as the live feed footage of the competition was rather boring and tedious. What the houseguests had to do was create mash potato tunnel down a ramp. At the end of the ramp were several tubes where they had to maneuver the tunnels to. Once the tunnel were fully formed (or somewhat formed) both Sheila and Sharon would start pouring gravy down the tunnels. The tubes that they were able to fill up with the gravy would be the food items or prizes they would win. They actually ended up getting a lot of food, a new grill and yard toys. It was a very unique challenge and finally one that was fun to watch, on TV, and I’m sure fun to compete in!

Now it was all down to the nominations which I’m sure everyone thought were set in stone. A few days ago I posted a video showing James’ major break down to Adam in the HoH room. One thing I find interesting about this on the show is how they handled Natalie’s exit from the room, allowing James to persuade Adam to keep him safe. On the show they have Natalie explaining how it was “best for her to leave the room” since she had said enough. But in fact if you watch the live feed footage, you will see that Natalie was called to the Diary Room right after James broke down. People in the house and on the web are saying that producers felt it would be good to get Natalie out of there, to kind of allow James the freedom to talk to Adam opening. Them forcing her to say it was her choice to leave the room, on the show, kind of drives that point home and assures a known idea that yes, the producers do influence the game. Even though they say they don’t. In the end James did pull through and Adam placed both Sheila and Sharon on the block. Next time we will see what happened with the POV. Of course if you are in the BB know you already know what happens but for those who aren’t make sure to check back Tuesday for all the dirt that goes down! I can already tell Wednesday night is going to be another crazy one.

CBS Produces Lack Of Strategy On Big Brother 9

Big Brother 9, CBS No Comments

On the latest Big Brother 9 basically no gameplay or strategy was shown. Rather we were stuck with watching the houseguests play hide and see, make a whirlpool, and stare at a black and white picture in hopes of seducing it. I’m tired of the Sunday night episodes where all they basically show us is crappy fill ins. We all know that strategy and drama is going down on the feeds. Why can’t CBS show that stuff? Tons of drama went down weeks before with James throwing a jar of pickles at Natalie yet that doesn’t air? They aired Dick pouring iced tea on Jen’s head and burning her with cigarettes yet we don’t see pickles flying at Natalie head?

I have a feeling they are trying to portray James as the “good guy” in the house who “lost his soulmate” and well the pickle bit just doesn’t fit well with that. I sure hope Sunday’s get better soon or they might as well stop airing them and just show the 15 minutes they spend on showing nominations. Oh yeah, James and Joshuah went on the block. Too bad they didn’t show much about why or how that happened, good thing the feeds are there or else we would be fooled into thinking all they do is play childish games all day long!

How Reality Isn’t Real

Reality, Video 1 Comment

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a very interesting clip on YouTube that explains how reality editors can manipulate storylines to basically fit anything they want to show. On this clip from a BBC show they simulate a reality show and then show you how, through editing techniques, any story possible can be created out of the hours of material they have.
