Rehash Review: Survivor Gabon Cast Revealed!

CBS, Survivor Gabon No Comments

Today CBS released the 18 men and women that will be competing in Survivor Gabon. The seventeenth season will head back to Africa to showcase “Earth’s Last Eden”. Although no twists have been revealed, the cast has and that’s good enough for now! Get to know the cast now since the premiere on September 25th is quickly approaching! It will be the first time Survivor airs a 2 hour premiere and is sure to pack a punch! Here we go, make sure to leave a comment when you’re done reading and discuss the cast with others!

Ace / 27 / Naples, Florida / Jewelry Sales

Ace is the first Londoner on the show and one of the few of the non-American born this season. He says that he’s arrogant and his bio says he’s a “flirter” so could he be a male Parvati? He’s live in several places before so he may be a good worker at camp and he’ll probably be good at competitions. I have a feeling he’ll go far but after annoying some people he’ll get the boot.

Bob / 58 / Portland, Main / Physics Teacher

Bob is the oldest guy of the season and will surely be the “dad” for some I’m sure. He’s a teacher so he knows how to interact with the young crowd, which he’ll be doing a lot of in Gabon. His bio claims that he’s worked in several different professions and always enjoys a journey. His vast background and age may allow him to slide through for a few rounds as he becomes friends with all the “kids”.

Charlie / 29 / New York, NY / Lawyer

Charlie is almost an exact replica of China’s winner, Brian. The two love the show of Survivor, they both know how to play and both are gay. It’s really interesting to see that they casted someone so similar to Todd but if he wins then we will know why they casted him. He says that his strategy is to make people think he’s weak and to make big moves. He knows a lot about the game and I think that will take him very far and possibly the win.

Corinne / 29 / LA, California / Pharmaceutical Sales

Corinne is a self proclaimed bitch and only does her job for the money. I have a feeling she could become the new Jerri Manthey since she is only there for the money and always gets her way. She should be fun to watch and if she knows how to sell herself she could get far. The longer she stays the more entertaining I think she’ll become as fighting it always a good way to become “famous” in the world of Survivor.

Crystal / 29 / Durham, North Carolina / Olympic Athlete

Crystal is one of those that is casted mostly because of her profession. She probably has no clue what the show is all about since she was found, rather then casted. But her speed, strength and height will surely give her an edge when it comes to challenges. If she lets everyone know she’s an Olympic winner that could hurt her in the long run but since most “casted” people leave early I see the same for Crystal.

Dan / 32 / Boston, MA / Lawyer

Dan is the second lawyer on the show this season and I have a feeling he and Brian will either hate each other or get along rather well. He doesn’t really stand out as a big player but more of a threat in competitions. His bio focuses on his sports accomplishments, most being in high school. Although it does say he had a realization that his family means more to him then ever. If he can stay somewhat hidden he may do well, but I doubt he can if he’s dominating in challenges.

Danny / 26 / Portland, Oregon / Maintenance Man

Danny reminds me a lot of Ozzy. His bio says that he loves the outdoors, swimming and fishing. Although that may be the case his video interview makes Danny seem rather “boring” I have a feeling he could slip under the radar. He’s had a rough life so Survivor may not be the hardest thing he’s ever done. He also wants to be helpful everyone yet stay hidden, which will be a good idea if he does turn out to be Ozzy 2.0.

Gillian /  61 / Temecula, CA / Retired Nurse

I really like this lady! Not only is she familiar with Africa (she was born there) she’s also a retired nurse and over the hill! She’s the female Jerry in my eyes with a touch of Cirie. She loves the show and has applied for 15 seasons. Gillian will probably be the fan favorite this season as she’s funny and knows what she’s doing out there. She knows she can take on the “boobs and butts” of the show and become the oldest winner yet!

Jacque / 25 / Santa Barbara, CA / Medical Sales

Jacque seems to be the tomboy of the season as she loves the outdoors and competing in sports and other adventures. She says she can overcome any extreme conditions and Survivor will surely put that to the test. Other then that I don’t get much from Jacque other then she’ll be some nice eye candy for the show. Since she knows how to work amongst men and older people, I think she will do well as long as she doesn’t get on the girls bad side.

Jessica / 29 / Brooklyn, NY / Pin-Up Model

Jessica aka Sugar, is one of those that probably has no clue what she’s doing out in Africa. She looks like Courtney from China but I have a feeling her personality is very different. Jeff Probst as said she’s very emotional, naive and plays the game with her heart. If she is like that she may be an early boot but then again she could go far if she joins the right crowd. I don’t see her making any big moves but rather gives us some good confessionals and break downs.

Kelly / 22 / Buffalo Grove, Illinois / Retail Sales

I have a feeling that Kelly will do good in this game. She looks great, seems smart and knows how to be a leader. If she can do all that and join up in a good group she will go far. Although she doesn’t look like it, Kelly says that she is very adventurous which probably will surprise many. I don’t think she knows much about the game but like I said, she’ll need a good group to take her far but can do well.

Ken / 22 / Westminister, CA / Pro Gamer

For once Survivor has casted the nerd! I have a feeling he’ll be well liked by everyone on and off the show. Ken is someone who you would expect to sit back and let things happen but his mind will always be playing out the game. He knows how to win and is addicted to the show. If he can use his strategy of winning Smash Bros. to the game of Survivor he’ll surely do well and impress a few people along the way.

Marcus / 28 / Atlanta, Georgia / Doctor

Marcus is the one from the commercials and I think a lot of people knew he was going to be on the show. Although he is a doctor I don’t see him being the next Dr. Will. I think he’ll be there for a few rounds then get the boot once he reveals that he’s a doctor. He’s a threat, already has many and I think many people will take that into consideration when they vote at Tribal Council.

Matty / 29 / Pacific Palisades, CA / Personal Trainer

Matty seems to be someone who is there just for fun and nothing more. I don’t think he’ll be too much into the game and may actually get into a few fights. He seems to be someone that won’t really want to help out at camp or do too much otherwise as he’s a bit of a slacker. Maybe the show will teach him a few things but otherwise I think he’ll be gone early since he doesn’t seem to want to be there.

Michelle / 24 / LA, California / Music Producer

I think Michelle will be good on the show. Both for entertainment and also in the game itself. She’s very easy to watch, at least on their interview video, and seems to have her mind made up of how to play the game. I really see her going far in the game with a great attitude and some hardcore game play. I really think Michelle is someone to watch out for.

Paloma / 24 / Downey, CA / Student

Paloma is someone that will be very unseen in the first part of the show, similar to Natalie last season. She doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in her body, her parents were missionaries after all. Her bio states that she’s a social butterfly and that will either help or hurt her in the game. If she can control it and be friends with the right people she could do well, but being friends with everyone is never a good idea in Survivor.

Randy / 49 / Eagle Rock, Missouri / Wedding Videographer

Randy is a bit strange it seems as he tries to crack jokes in his interview video that just aren’t funny to anyone else but himself. I don’t see him being that annoying on the show but I have a feeling if the people are dealing with it everyday it may get on some nerves. Who knows he may be the new Jonathan Penner but I doubt that.

Susie / 47 / Charles City, Iowa / Hairdresser

Susie is someone I think will add a lot of life to the show. She’s doing it to finally do something for herself and I think that’s reason enough to like her. I think she can become the camp mom for her tribe and will hopefully not be targeted for being in the “older” group. Maybe she’ll even become the next Sandra and surprise us all with a fiery mouth! Hopefully that’s the case but we can’t know for sure until September 25th!

Read the rest and discuss with fellow fans!

One Singer Flips The Crowd On America’s Got Talent

America's Got Talent, NBC No Comments

America’s Got Talent is STILL on their “nation wide quest for talent” and begins, once again, in Atlanta. Does anyone else feel the audition process is getting a little drawn out now? Oh well. First up was a singer who feels “passionate” about her singing “gift”. That usually means she’s going to suck and of course I was right. After forcing everyone to stand up she began to “sing”, rather scream, and basically walked around waving her hands the entire time. Not sure why the judges didn’t buzz her right away but what the hell we need something fun to laugh out right away.

Next up was someone who applied last year and ended up moving onto the second round. He’s a magician who does comedy as well. This time around he promises to perform a bed of nails act. He lays on the nails and lets his “helper” stand on top of him. As she tap dances on top of him the nails light up while Piers Xs. David didn’t think the nails were sharp and asked if he could stand on him. The guy agrees so David jumps on top and of course the guy survives. If they didn’t pass him through he should have sued them for attempt of murder!

After that crazy act it was time for an even crazier one as a cross dresser stepped up doing a Tina Turner impersonator. (Actually  think it was a guy I honestly couldn’t tell). He didn’t really sing like her but lipsynched and danced. Do I see another Boy Shakira in the making? The audience seemed to like him while Sharon did as well. After Piers said no Sharon said a very stern yes. It was then up to David who gave a yes after the audience begged him to. A few other acts were also passed through including a samba group, a speed juggler, a singer. The last act in Atlanta was the “Zooperstars” who were a bunch of people in inflatable costumes who danced around. The audience loved the hilarious act and it seemed to be the best act of the day. The judges easily passed them through simply because the audience went crazy.

With the Atlanta auditions now over it was time to turn to Texas. Up first were Dallas Desperado dancers who are “like” sisters. They do almost everything in sync from walking to talking. Considering they are a professional sport dance team it’s obvious they would be good. The judges and audience thought they were great and the girls easily moved onto the Vegas round.

At only 18 years old the next audition was the first time his talent was ever shown to the public. What he did was act like a robot, moving at a strange pace to look as if he actually was a robot. It was rather strange but timed well to certain sound effects that made it humorous then even some comics. Sharon loved that he mixed the track himself while Piers was surprised by his unusual talent.

The strange acts continued as “barn yard animal noises” are for some reason seen as a talent. For once David was the first to give an X and Piers quickly followed. Sharon held out for a few more “noises” which included a rot wilier and hog having a “disagreement”. With that disappointing act it’s not surprising he didn’t go through along with the next few acts they showed. Those included an extremely strange singing lady, a self titled freak show, an accordion duo another strange dancer guy and a horrible comic. Sure seems like Texas got a few crazies doesn’t it?

Last for the night was a man who at once had his vocal cords severed and could no longer talk. After learning through talk he wanted a second chance at singing and wanted to use the show to try just that. Although he did sound pretty good the audience hated it and wanted the judges to buzz him. I’m not sure what was going on, maybe the song choice? I’m not sure how he did it but he sang through their banter and luckily the judges didn’t agree with them. After hitting a great note the crowd completely changed their turn and started to clap and cheer. It was amazing to see the audience flip like that. The judges saw the change and knew his potential, happily sending him through.

After that great ending America’s Got Talent is proving to be even better then American Idol at times. I’m not sure why they don’t air it against the show because I feel it would surely give it a run for its money

America’s Best Talent Perform For Vegas

America's Got Talent, NBC No Comments

America’s Got Talent returns once again and things kick off in Los Angeles. I’m somewhat confused since the show ended in LA last week so it they must have needed a double dose. First up as a “singing ferry” who barely had a chance before getting an X from Piers. The crowd seemed to agree as her singing was rather well….. bad. But hey she’s a freaking singing ferry! What did you expect?

It seems LA has some other strange acts as the next few shown were crazy! Some were just tone deaf while others had some very strange well.. talents. If you want to call them that. One rather strange mother/daughter team freaked me out a bit and the judges agreed.

Thankfully the next act was great and made up for the strange. Ely, who traveled on hardly any money to get to LA to try out, stunned the audience. He performed sang and played the piano and received a standing ovation from the entire stadium. Of course the judges would move him through for that and that they did.

Next up was “Miss Pussykat” who did a grinding act. Of course it isn’t anything naughty, well kind of. She takes your average grinding tool and moves it around her body. Of course she’s wearing metal clothing but it was so crazy yet so entertaining! Not sure if it took talent but it was sure one great act. The judges loved it too and all three moved her on to Vegas.

Two hurricane Katrina survivors were up next. Their story was touching and they even laid it on the judges. Their act was street performance as they some break dance moves along with acrobats. The judges loved their tumbling and their story, moving them along based on both. With that LA’s auditions are over and we now move along to New York.

Next up was some guy who performed his “Drum-tasia”. As he played the drums, fairly loudly and bad, smoke filled the crowd which forced three Xs from the judges. Luckily the next up was a family singing group who took on NSync. They performed rather well even though they weren’t that original. The judges seemed to like them though along with the crowd, moving them along to Vegas.

The “Russian Pole” trio was next where two guys hold a pole and throw a girl up and down as she balances on the pole. They billed it as the most life threatening act on America’s Got Talent. The girl who was bouncing was inches from the Xs and really proved to have talent! It was a risky act but one that was simply amazing. Of course they moved through and should be a shoe in to go very far.

To give a much needed break the judges had a short segment. Sharon was shown to be the favorite of the three judges, especially to an Ozzy Osbourne impersonator. Sharon wasn’t too thrilled as she quickly Xed him. For once Piers was the last to buzz in and it was an obvious no from them all, well Piers gave a yes but it was a “bloody joke”.

The token “family act” was then up as they have one every season. The large family sings and plays instruments together. Each season the have to have ONE, so my guess is the Tobble family is it. Although they were rather boring, they did play well together and nobody really slacked off. Although Piers Xed he changed his mind and helped move the von Trap, I mean Tobble family onto Vegas.

A Broadway dance troupe was up next as the dancing cowboys. They weren’t all that great and I found my self wishing the grinding girl was back! It seems the judges loved them though as all three moved them on to Vegas. It seems the show is moving once again to Chicago so we get to see the crazy town again!

The first act in Chicago was a fire act. Several cement blocks were placed on fire. The guy then smashed through all the blocks, hand on fire and all. It was amazing to watch and it was surely entertaining. It was surely one of the best acts of the night and he deserved his spot in Vegas. But Sharon didn’t want to see him hurt and said no, luckily Piers and David moved him through.

Shalina, a cancer survivor, was up next and her act was singing. Although Piers didn’t like it the crowd did give her a standing ovation. She told Piers she thinks she can win and that’s what pushed him through to the next round. He loved her spirit and gave her a second chance in Vegas.

Magicians were the next category to show their talent. First up was Johnny O who fumbled early and never rebounded. His act was juggling eyeballs and was rather lame. Dan the Magic Man then ripped a dove in part, which angered the judges and probably PETA as well. The rest weren’t any better as all dealt with doves and all sucked.

As always someone comes to save the day and that was the husband and wife team, Pen Dragons. Even though the husband had an arrow in the heart a few years back it didn’t slow the couple down. Both worked well together and although they didn’t perform many risky acts their illusions were pulled off well. The judges loved their act and moved them through, making them the first magicians going to Vegas.

A ton of impersonations then were shown. They were kind of horrible since it really isn’t a talent is it? Some called them “tributes” but they should have been yanked off with a cane! It seems they weren’t all bad though as an Elvis impersonator was last. He didn’t look like Elvis but the crowd loved him. Not sure if he’s any different then “Boy Shakira” but we’ll have to see I guess.

The ‘Devil’ Is Crowned The Celebrity Apprentice

Celebrity Apprentice, NBC 1 Comment

Why is it that every British guy on a reality show always seeks to be the most evil person there? Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsey and now Piers Morgan. I must say after not watching the Apprentice since season one, I was skeptical to watch this celebrity version since most celebrity shows fail. Thankfully it caught my attention as it was even more entertaining then I remembered it and was surely a great season.

The night began with both Trace and Piers still facing off at the charity auction. I loved how they added the laughter from the crowd over the pre-taped moments. It gave it a comedy type feel and there sure was a ton of it! The charity event went pretty smoothly but one thing kind of felt strange to me. It wasn’t really about the items they were bidding on, once again, but rather huge celebrities dishing out thousands of money for the ’cause’. Piers had three donations at $100,000 which gave him a sure win. Hell even one donation of $100,000 would have been enough.

When it came time to crown the winner, everyone wanted to see Trace win. Maybe it was the fact Piers is British on an American show or maybe because he was so evil on the show itself, but everyone there seemed to hate him. When it came down too it though, Piers did in fact take home the win. Although I hate saying it, he did deserve it after all the challenges he won and money he raised. In the end none of the celebrities stood a chance against him (no not even you Carol) and he probably would have won against anyone. Luckily there is a new season already being planned for next year and Trump told us that he’ll “be around for a long, long time” so I guess that means at least a few new season. Hopefully they can get an even better cast next time. Just bring back Omarosa again and I’ll be sure to tune in!
