Small Celebrities Cause Small Ripple on Pop Fiction

E!, Pop Fiction No Comments

Pop Fiction returned last night after two weeks in hiding with little fun and little celebrities. Apparently they took two weeks off to plan the most amazing pranks ever with the biggest named celebs! Um no, they didn’t as the two “celebrities” appearing this week were both reality stars. Audrina Partridge from ‘The Hills’ was up first. We all know she’s bee in the news for having nude pictures over the web so I was wondering how exactly she could do anything to top that. What they had her do was go to a tattoo parlor where she was to get a fake tattoo of several Chinese symbols. The symbols were supposed to mean ‘chicken and rice’ and she was supposed to act as if it meant something different.

I thought the stunt was clever but they really could not pull it off. She had a ton of paparazzi watching her get the tattoo but another ‘celebrity’ Billy Zane appeared next door and stole all her thunder. Even the guy filming for Pop Fiction went to film Billy Zane! Once he went into the restaurant though they all hounded back to Audrina. She quickly flashed her tattoo and ran out the door with it covered, denying the chance to take a good picture of it. In the end the paparazzi believed she did get a tattoo, but nobody really cared what it meant and it ended up that it wasn’t that big of a deal. That was only strike out number one.

Next up was Lisa Rinna who appeared on ‘Dancing With the Stars’. What she wanted to do was a fake ‘love affair’ with a much younger guy. Her husband was in on the act and basically ruined it in the end. She seemed way to excited though and basically did seem like she was acting the entire time. Lisa grabbed her new ‘guy’ and they went out in Malibu. The only thing they really did was drive around and then kiss a few times in a Malibu hotel balcony. There were only three paparazzi there so it was kind of pointless as she doesn’t get anywhere near the amount that other people do. The prank basically failed as her husband didn’t act angry as they planned. Rather he pulled out the pictures of his wife and the younger guy to show the paparazzi the next night that it was fake. Way to ruin it Mark.

I must say I’m very disappointed with the show. First it goes away for two weeks and now it’s failing miserablly to attract big name celebs that can create viral stories. Good luck to Pop Fiction, I think they really need it.

Is Pop Fiction In Hiding?

E!, Pop Fiction 1 Comment

A few weeks ago a little reality show came along to play with the minds of the paparazzi. But after two weeks of shenanigans, Pop Fiction is no where to be found on E! or the TV Guide listings for the channel. The website is saying new episodes are supposed to air Sundays at 10:30, yet for the past two weeks the show has been MIA. I’m wondering exactly what’s going on with the show that broke new ground on the media stake out. Are they waiting for the perfect opportunity to pop back up and surprise us when we least expect it? Or are celebrities just not turning out like Ashton Kutcher had hoped? One thing is for sure. Pop Fiction is MIA and nobody really knows where it has gone to. Hopefully it’s just building up for a huge prank fest, or it could have just sizzled out like several other shows that have come before it.

New Show Focuses on the Reality of Fake Reality

E!, Pop Fiction No Comments

Ashton Kutcher is up no good again and this time he’s punking the paparazzi. Last night E!’s new show ‘Pop Fiction’ aired and was actually pretty good! It’s about celebrities basically creating fake stories to see how far the media will spin things. First up was Paris Hilton who they obviously knew would get tons of press. She walked around with a ‘guru’ who was dressed in a bright shaman gown and long gray hair. The man who play the guru was actually an actor from San Francisco but he sure fooled the press! She joked with him while they drove in her car and we saw first hand how the paparazzi attacks her basically. In the end everyone bought it as it was all around the news in the week leading up to the show.

The second ‘celebrity’ to punk the paparazzi was Avril Lavigne. No I know I’ve seen on websites lately that she was pregnant but it ends up it was all a joke which plays out on Pop Fiction. They put a baby suit on her to make it look like she had a ‘baby bump’ and all she and her boyfriend did was walk into a few baby stores. Apparently this is more accurate to being pregnant then an actual pregnancy test as the media grabbed it right up and pronounced Avril pregnant. It’s funny how the media kind of just goes with any little story they have but because of Pop Fiction they may have to re-evaluate what is real and what is just pop fiction.
