The Crew Go Trucking On America’s Toughest Jobs

America's Toughest Jobs, NBC 2 Comments

Last week America’s Toughest Jobs took on the seas of Deadliest Catch and this week another Discovery Channel favorite is visited: Ice Road Truckers. The twelve remaining contestants remained in Alaska for the task and after getting their permits to drive 18 wheelers the challenge was off. With only six big rigs for the job, the twelve were split into pairs with two in each truck. One would drive 250 miles to Anchorage Alaska while the other would take over the remaining 250 miles the next day.

With the first six on the road half had problems. Rommel started it off early by stalling out as the trucks pulled onto the road and continued that streak while going up one of the many Alaskan hills. Bryce also had some trouble on the hill but his problems were going down. Since the hills are so steep, breaking wasn’t an option so the truckers had to downshift to make the decent. With over 10 gears to choose from, some of the drivers were finding it difficult to pull off these shifts, one of them being Bryce. Chris had the hardest drive though, stalling not once but several times on two different hills. His driving was so dangerous that his supervisor pulled him from the drivers seat and allowed his partner Phil to take over for the rest of the drive. Phil, along with Rie and Eric, did great at the drivers seat and showed how ice road trucking should be done.

After a nights sleep, which happened to be in the bright Alaska night, the next six drivers were ready to take the reamining 250 miles which were much worse then the first. The six driving this time faced a blizzard, unpaved roads and several avalanche warnings. About a quarter way through the drive the cast pulled up to a newly crashed truck and it made them all think just how dangerous their “job” was. It caused little paranoia though as most of the second round drivers did well. Sandy once again shined as she proved it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman doing the job and Phil once again showed his success at the wheel. The only one with problems was Amy, once again. She was horrible at crab fishing and it was obvious she wouldn’t fair well here. Although she did well pre-hills, she almost killed Rie and herself by not putting the truck in gear doing down a steep and curvy hill. Her supervisor almost pulled her from the seat but luckily she got the truck in gear last minute. Chris also had a second chance to prove himself to his supervisor but after sleeping most of the way while Phil was driving he learned very little. With his big mouth open, Chris drove well his second time but berrated his supervisor in “his truck” which sent Chris packing. His supervisor was so heated from the argument that he kicked him out of the truck all together, forcing him to drive to the finish point with the boss and Josh, the host.

When it came time to name the bottom four Josh asked the truckers who they thought should be in there. It was kind of pointless to do so though, if you ask me, since they only got to see how their partner drove. After asking Rie who should be in the bottom four, she chose her partner Amy since that’s the only person she could evaluate. Amy didn’t take it too kindly though and when the weakest four were announced, Rie leaned in for a hug but Amy wasn’t having it. She couldn’t deal with Rie’s flip flop of friendship and “call out” but hey the producers basically asked for it. Since I got ahead of myself let’s just say the bottom four now. Rommel, Bryce, Amy and obviously Chris were chosen to compete to stay in the game. What they had to do was back one of the trucks up to gate without hitting any cones. They then had to remove the hydraulics, pull out the pin connecting the truck to the freight and then pull the truck through the finish line. The slowest to do so would go home and would not be able to compete in the next job.

Bryce started things off but not so well. It took him two tries to back the truck up and after hitting a cone his time went up by a minute. In the end he did finish though and Rommel was up next. Rommel did well, by not hitting any cones and perfectly lining up his truck he beat Bryce’s time which ensured he would stay in the game. Crazy Chris followed Rommel and showed his lack of trucking skills once again. After taking several attempts to get the truck lined up with the gate and hitting two cones, Chris finally finished with a time well over Bryce’s, meaning it was up to Amy to either send herself home or send Chris home. With a stellar move into the gate, Amy was sure to do well but her bad luck continued as she couldn’t pull the pin out, disconnected the freight car. Her lack of strength showed once again and with her time going past Chris’, Amy was sent packing and told she would not be moving on to the next job.

Next week its gold mining time! It doesn’t seem THAT hard but hey, I guess if you get swept away in a river like one contestant is rumored it, it just might be the toughest one yet!

Post Eviction Offers Big Drama For Big Brother 10

Big Brother 10, CBS No Comments

Big Brother sure isn’t getting any worst but WOW is it getting better then ever! The fights this season are intense and like I’ve never seen before. Following the eviction of Jessie, the house split their feelings as they split their sides. Michelle was upset, obviously, and she cried and screamed to let everyone know. April was upset for another reason, her “friends” backstabbed her by not voting out who she wanted. Oh poor girl, get over it. Libra and Keesha were estatic as they should be, they finally got what they wanted and pulled off a great blindside. Even if Jessie says he knew. The best quote of the night came from Keesha who said she was “sending Jessie back to his real girlfriend. Priceless! Dan was the only one who was neither happy nor sad. I think he wanted Jessie to go, but knew people would explode. Jerry went on him the hardest by saying he should “burn in hell” but Dan decided to send himself to bed, hoping to hide the fight.

When Michelle won the HoH the mood changed for both sides. Michelle was crazy, screaming and yelling that she would avenge Jessie. April was happy as well since her new best buddy Michelle was in power. Is it just me or does April flow with the power more then anyone I’ve ever seen? When the houseguests were let back into the house the fights started with Michelle and Renny. Renny made a comment that morning about Michelle being crazy for staying up for all of the wake up calls. Michelle brought it up, while Renny was standing there, and Renny went off. She went on another one of her tiffs but quickly moved away to let Libra and Keesha fight off the Portuguese Princess and now April. The four girls continued to spat for several minutes, with Jerry chiming in about Dan “burning in hell” now and again. The guys, and Renny, were generally unharmed from the fight but oh how the girls sure pulled the nails out for this one!

During the fight Memphis had to play both sides. He wasn’t happy with those who were saying things about Dan’s religion and decided that he would stick with Dan. He told Dan that he would be safe, since he did have a voice in what Michelle did. Although Memphis didn’t stick up for Dan in the house, he did in the Diary Room and shows the two may work well in the future. Later that night Dan continued his “weakness” when Michelle came to talk to him. He lifted his head out from the pillow for a few moments to talk with Michelle who wanted to know why he voted for Jessie. He wouldn’t say way, rather saying he wasn’t sure why he voted for Jessie to leave. Other then that Michelle didn’t care to talk and left. When she did Dan gave another face to the camera. He’s still playing for America, or too America at least.

Before Michelle got to enter her Head of Household bedroom, Libra asked if they were allowed in. She said that would be, and that although it is a game she would be upset if they didn’t come upstairs. When everyone finally got to see the Portuguese family Michelle has non-stop talked about, some were more happy then others. April acted so happy for Michelle, which angered Memphis a bit. He feels April is a bit fake, which I agree with, and others have seen it as well. Renny also got a bit emotional as she realized that she is missing her family. She went down to cray in the hippy room. We don’t see much of this on the show from Renny but finally the TV audience has seen her softer, less crazy, side.

The next morning it was time for the much anticipated return of the houseguests. The ten who were returning where: Chicken George, Bunky, Amy, Jun, Jase, Janelle, Mike Boogie, Jen, Matty and to host it was Brian. It seemed like a good premise but the ten only got to talk for 30 seconds if that. They hardly got to show their real selves and most seemed scripted. Along with that, Brian was an awful host and basically killed most of the moments.

The entire part of the challenge was for food. For each day one of the BB10 houseguests would challenge a former houseguests on if a news article was true or false. The former player would then have to give a little statement about the article, trying to trick the BB10er into thinking it was true or false. Dan was up first and chose to face Boogie. Dan got the Brett Farve article and although Boogie told him the truth, Dan didn’t believe it and they lost slop for Monday. Some also lost some brain cells as they were upset about the trade. Next up was Renny who chose to face against Jen. Since she probably didn’t feel like being there, Jen told Renny she was her favorite and that her story about gas prices was false. Renny agreed and won food for the house on Tuesday. The next few players got their answers wrong but I’ll give you the choices anyway. Jerry chose Janelle, Memphis chose Amy, Ollie chose Matty (who said Natalie was “hiding in the bushes”) and flirted with Michelle, Libra chose Bunky, Michelle chose Jase and April chose Chicken George who finally won something on Big Brother. Last up was Keesha who faced off against Jun. Although Jun gave her a great story about Paris Hilton saying George Bush was running for President…. again. Keesha disagreed and won food for Sunday. So after that, a somewhat boring segment brought some great players back and put the BB10ers on slop for all but two days.

When everyone got over the shock of seeing some past players, it was all back to the game play. Memphis decided to talk to Michelle since he thought she would be on his side. Although she said she was, it seemed she lost some trust in Memphis. She thought he was more with Libra, Renny and Keesha but he disagreed. He also pulled a bit for Dan when he said he wasn’t with them either. If Michelle was smart she would pull in Memphis and Dan and create three groups of three. Hmm I wonder if its too late to send her a banner plane! Down stairs in her resident room, Renny was upset that April was getting off free for putting Jessie up. She decided to start playing the game and went up to Michelle to tell her this. After telling Michelle that April was the reason Jessie was nominated and evicted it gave Michelle some things to think about but apparently she didn’t think about it enough. In the end Michelle put Libra and Keesha on the block. Since the two are friends it shouldn’t be a big deal but I can assure you that is wrong. On Tuesday we will see some of the worst fights on the season yet. It’s getting ugly my friends and that means it’s getting better for us!

One Shocker After Another On Big Brother 10

Big Brother 10, CBS No Comments

What can I say? Big Brother 10 is showing what Big Brother is meant to be as it continues to shift power and shock not only the house guests but the viewers as well. With a surprise eviction for one player, a rebound shift of power for another and 9 All Stars entering the house who can’t love Big Brother 10?

Following the Power of Veto ceremony it was on awwn as Keesha and Libra wanted to shift the vote to evict Jessie. They knew that April wanted Memphis gone and when they tried she wouldn’t budge on evicting Jessie. Although the two girls pretended to still want Memphis out, Keesha put a plan in motion that would split the group and possibly evict Jessie. She knew that she needed four votes to evict this week but only had three in herself, Libra and Renny. That’s where Dan, America’s Player, came into play. Keesha grabbed Dan, along with Memphis, to show Libra they had the votes. When Dan agreed it was set that Jessie would go, but it was still up to America.

In the backyard April was worried that the two girls would flip and let Jerry know they might. He immediately knew that Dan was the swing vote and talked to him, telling him that he can’t be persuaded by Libra and Keesha. Dan kind of agreed but in an “hmmm, ok Jerry” manner and basically shrugged Jerry off. I don’t know how Jerry couldn’t realize it, but hey I guess he’s old. That night Dan talked directly too America, telling us that we better do what is best for him. It was fun to see someone talking to US and hopefully we didn’t screw Dan over too much.

The night was all about Dan as we saw a video from his family and football team. The team seemed supportive of their coach, although they seemed like they were more Dan’s friends rather then players. His family was split on the America’s Player twist as his sister loved it while his mother hated it. She felt it would hurt his game play but his sister knew he could pull through. After that Julie talked a bit with April. She didn’t mention anything about April and Ollie, you know, but April did say that she feels that her and Ollie’s relationship is true.

When it was time to vote the producers made it pretty obvious. They had Michelle, Jerry and Ollie vote first followed by Libra, Keesha and Renny. Dan was the obvious tie breaker, in reality it was America, and we forced him to evict Jessie. When Jessie walked out of the house, Michelle smacked her hands together and faced in front of everyone. She wasn’t too happy an either was Jessie. Although he didn’t go out in a rage he did leave somewhat angry, not the exit I had hoped for but still pretty good.

During the HoH the houseguests were asked to remember wake up calls that occurred last night. CBS had viewers send in wav files of what they should play to wake up the houseguests. Michelle was the only one to stay up all night and listen to them all. When it came down it is, Libra and Michelle were the final two of the competition. Michelle’s all nighter pulled off as she gained the Head of Household and shifted the power of the house. After such a huge eviction, this should be interesting as Michelle was the one most angry for the leave of Jessie. Oh I can’t wait to see how Michelle, and Jerry, blow up!

Before the show ended Julie dropped a HUGE bomb on us, but not the house. Ten former players of the game will enter the house sometime this weekend to play against those still in the game. In celebration of the 10th season Chicken George, Bunky, Amy, Jun, Jase, Janelle (I’m sure so many are happy about that), Boogie, Jen, Matty and Brian will play in a challenge against the remaining nine. What will the challenge be and what does it mean for the game? Tune in later to find out!

First Season Zack Returns To Paradise Hotel 2

Reality No Comments

Last week on Paradise Hotel Tanya left the game, leaving Mikey without his girlfriend and the originals (OGs) in a state of weakness. That drama continued first thing tonight as everyone realized Tanya was gone. Mikey was hit the hardest as Myrna, his new roommate who was the same girl who sent Tanya home, locked him out of his own room. She said she was scared of what he might do or say, but that’s her own fault. The rest of the OGs weren’t happy with the decision of Tanya going either. All said that Myrna was now enemy number one and wanted her out first chance they got.

The next day a new arrival stepped foot into Paradise…. kind of. Zack, who was on the first season of Paradise Hotel, is the new arrival for season 2 and is also the last person entering the game. If you’ve seen the first season you know that Zack is very explosive. He was kicked out for saying he would beat up another guy on the show. Zack also fell in love on the first season. He was on the “Tanya” end of things with Amy as a new guy sent him packing as Myrna sent Tanya packing. I never expected to see anyone from the first season turn up again, besides Toni maybe, and Zack returning will surely stir up the pot.

With the game completely split down the middle it’s obvious that Zack will decide which group moves on to the “grand prize”. He seemed to gravitate more towards the originals, maybe because he was once one himself. He seemed to click well with Mike after reading Tanya’s letter. She let him know how close her and Mike was and it seems like Zack came in with perfect timing. Both he and Mike felt similar feelings on Paradise Hotel so they will obviously have a bond. The question is will that bond turn into some sort of alliance, we shall wait and see.

Since we are getting close to the end the people at Paradise let the guests out on a little trip. The guys were sent on a deep sea fishing trip while the girls got almost everything waxed. Now I can see how fishing is fun but how is waxing a reward? Maybe it’s a girl thing. On the guy’s trip they all let Zack know about the girls. Myrna was the one brought up the most and the OGs continued to work on Zack that she’s one to watch out for.

While the guests were lounging at the pool some interesting things happened. The OGs basically swarmed around Zack, not allowing any of the newbies to talk to him. This could be a plan of attack but it doesn’t seem that way. Zack could easily go and talk to the others himself but he just doesn’t seem to want to. It was then announced that the originals and newbies would split up and each have a separate dinner. I’m not sure if the show wanted Zack to finally have some time with the other group or if it was all planned out before hand. It was interesting to see Myrna put on the spot for once and told she’s very “valley girlish”. Zack told her to not put any makeup on or get dressed up for dinner but she didn’t care to listen. It then turned into a semi-fight so I assume anything between the two was quickly squashed.

After dinner everyone regathered for a good old game of “truth or dare”. That game can never lead to any good and it actually seemed to hurt the OGs a ton. Lauren was asked to pick the person she found most attractive and kiss them. Her and James have been close the entire season but she decided to pick Zack. James didn’t like this too much and retaliated by doing the same to Myrna. Lauren didn’t seem to care, which angered James more. It also set Zack up for a switch to the newbies as he realized he would never be safe with the OGs. It is smart what he’s thinking as Lauren and Krista would never select him over Mikey, James or Ryan. At the very end we saw the start of something new as Zack woke Chris up to tell him that he wants a final four deal with himself, Chris, Stephanie and TD. Should be an interesting next episode as it seems the Paradise Hotel casino is back up. If I remember correctly, that caused some drama last time around so who knows what it will bring this time.
