Neal E. Boyd Wins America’s Got Talent

America's Got Talent, NBC 2 Comments

After almost four months of competition and over 200,000 acts, America’s Got Talent concluded with Neal E. Boyd winning the $1,000,000 and a show in Vegas. Beating out Queen Emily, Donald Braswell, Nuttin’ But Stringz and Eli Mattson, the opera singer was crowned the winner of the shows third season which had an extended run thanks to the summer Olympics. With the top ten returning for a combined performance and the “best of the worst” performing as well it was a packed hour show. In the end Neal Boyd took home the win over Eli Mattson by only one half of one percent of the vote difference.

Another Broken Arm Removes One Celeb From the Circus

Celebrity Circus, NBC No Comments

After last weeks great performances I wasn’t sure what Celebrity Circus would bring, but wow did they sure bring some great acts! Although the show was full of great performances, it starts off with a sad note. During his practice Chris took a large fall and re broke his arm. Because of this the doctor said he could no longer compete in the circus and therefore he removed himself from the show. Because of this all the celebrities move on to the last round before the finals. Saving someone who was meant to go home this week.

First up was Wee Man. Last week the judges finally gave him praise and I wasn’t sure if he could hold up to their standards but he really did. His act was the hand balancing act and he performed it with his “bro” Vlad. It was a great performance with Wee Man keeping up with the seasoned Vlad and it was hard to tell that they had limited practice time. He even lifted Vlad up in the end, earning him a standing ovation and the shows first 10 from each of the three judges.

The shows Golden Girl was up next and Stacey’s act was amazing as well. This week she wanted to take the stress out of the circus and not focus so much on winning. It seems this was her downfall as although her performance was amazing, the judges were somewhat harsh. Stacey’s act was the rocking cradle and it took a ton of skill to perform it. She worked with a partner who mostly swung on the cradle as she flipped and spun as he caught her mid air. It was a very risky stunt and she handled it well. Of course there were a few flubs but still it was great. The judges all gave her an 8 and said she didn’t bring her “diva” style. Stacey is growing on me more yet the judges and I seem to always have a differing view of her.

Next up was Antonio who after a lackluster week last week needed something big. It turns out his original act was trapeze and in the end it didn’t work out. Because of that he ended up changing to the wheel of death. Although he was scared to do the act, Antonio pulled through and had an ok performance when it counted. The first three turns of the wheel had Antonio doing the same grasping/upside down move with really no variety. In the end he did a handstand at the top of the wheel and that’s about it. If I was a betting man I’d say he’ll be heading home next week after that but really who knows. Thankfully the judges agreed with me and gave Antonio two 7s and an 8.

Rachel was the last to go this week and her act was being billed once again as one of the most dangerous acts the show has seen yet. Her pre-performance package showed her hyping up to battle the bull but in the end we were all fooled as the bull ended up being a dog! It was VERY entertaining and one of the most fun acts to watch ever on the show. It may not have been dangerous or risky but it will be one of the most memorable acts from the show. The judges seemed to be speechless after they saw her act but seemed to love it. Rachel said she knew it was a risk but wanted to do it to get the full circus experience. The judges seemed to go against their sheer joy of the act by giving her two 6s and a 7. Hopefully the votes are there to save Rachel since her act was good even if it wasn’t risky!

America’s Young & Old Perform In New York

America's Got Talent, NBC 1 Comment

America’s Got talent is back and it seems they’ve kicked it up a notch. Not only will the winner get $1 million but now they will also get to perform in Las Vegas. It’s a pretty good reward but I wonder if some of the acts on the show are worthy enough of performing in Vegas. I mean who’s going to pay to see a rapping grandma in Vegas?

The show started off with auditions in New York. It seems there are some crazies showing up, as always, as nobody was passed through within the first twenty minutes. A guy with a huge tongue, an old guy trying to sing/dance and a crappy trumpeter were some of the acts we had to sit through. Finally someone who didn’t get any X’s was brought onto stage. He came out with a trombone but went off the stage dancing. The guy busted out some dance moves and crazy antics during his performance and really deserved his spot to move through.

With one through we finally get to the good talent, or so I thought. Twin sisters from Bucharest called “Indigo” acted the part but sang so horribly the crowd booed them from two seconds in. Apparently something happened to the judges though as both Sharon and Piers moved them through. Not sure why, I mean it is America’s Got Talent right? Some real talent then stepped on the stage, two brothers who played a great violin number that was fresh and original. It was much better then the twins and they deserved to move through! Several NY acts that made it through were then shown and I wish they could have showed more of them. Most were performances from groups such as magic and plastic drumming along with a few singers. The norm.

New York continued to crank out the crazies as 80 year old tap dancer was pushed onto stage. Of course she was cute and all but not “Vegas” material. Going from the oldest to youngest acts we see a few kids who tried hard but failed to move onto Vegas BUT then we have a four year old singer who was amazing! Could you think, a four year old singing in the city of sin? It could be possible as everyone loved her and I have a feeling America will as well!
