Chris Gets ‘Bada-Binged’ Out Of America’s Toughest Jobs
October 4, 2008 9:00 am America's Toughest Jobs, NBCOn the latest America’s Toughest Jobs the crew go skyward as they clean, paint and fix lights 60 stories in the air as a bridge maintenance crew. Following last weeks leave of Rie everyone realized that it was still any one’s game. This week the job was bridge maintenance and not everyone was excited. Both Chris and Steven were afraid of heights of weren’t looking forward to climbing on top of the bridge. Michael was excited though as she loves heights and did well along with everyone else.
As the crew moved to their first job they had to walk on a small pathway underneath the road of the bridge. Chris had some trouble, clinging to the side of the wall, and everyone had a laugh at his expense. When they got to the location to haul their tools up the seven remaining players had to walk out onto a small platform, hang over the side and pull their tools up. Steven was up first and although he was scared he was able to pull through. Chris had some trouble though as he stood back too far and almost spilled his tool container to the water below. Everyone else easily walked out and did the job moving onto the next.
If you thought just walking out to a platform was hard the crew’s next job was even worse! They were asked to clean light fixtures on top of the bridge and had to walk a small pipe that led to the top. The first group to do so was Steven, Ben, Bryce and Michaela. All did fairly well with Ben doing the best. He is a construction worker so he is used to being up high. Down waiting for their turn were Sandy, Rommel and Chris. Chris was debating if he wanted to do the job or not and looked to Sandy for help. He and Sandy had a few arguments last week so she didn’t have to help him but she did. Sandy tried to pump Chris up and although she got him to at least walk up the bridge he did have some trouble. When it was their turn Sandy and Rommel easily pulled through but Chris had trouble cleaning the light. His safety helper ended up doing so, making Chris look automatically in the bottom two.
For their third and final job the crew was asked to paint wires to avoid corrosion. They were once again split into two groups with Sandy/Steven/Bryce on one and Michaela/Rommel/Chris on the other. Since Ben did such a good job on the last two he was asked to supervise. During his supervision he decided to make the painting a competition and had the two teams race to finish the cables. In doing so he put the two teams on hyper speed which almost caused a drastic accident. While moving the ladder Sandy slide it into oncoming traffic which could have caused several injuries or worse. Although it was Sandy’s fault Ben could also be blamed for putting the pressure of competition to the job. Luckily his past actions showed he was a great worker and Ben once again took home the best of the week award. But when it came to the bottom two both Chris and Sandy were forced to compete to stay.
Since Sandy was in the bottom two everyone saw it as a chance to get rid of their best competition. But with the job they had to do to stay Chris stood no chance as they had to hike back up the bridge. The job was to see who could change four lights on the bridge the fastest. Sandy quickly ran up the bridge while Chris went at a slow pace. When Chris reached his first light he realized that Sandy was almost done so he gave up. Chris didn’t enjoy the job, being he was afraid of heights, but he did feel it was amazing at what he did. Sandy was overally excited to stay as well since he realized how important the jobs are rather then the competition. Next week the crew go tree cutting and it seems this may be the toughest job yet!

Why did Americas Toughest Jobs
quit airing before someone won ?
Will the season finish or are we
going to just be left hanging ?
I believe the last show I saw was
where they were cutting trees and
(Sandy?) went home.
Thanks.

They actually did finish the show it just kept moving times so it was hard to keep track when it was going to be on. Ben was crowned the winner and won about $250,000 after all incomes were totaled.
