America’s Toughest Jobs Goes Monster Trucking

7:25 pm America's Toughest Jobs, NBC

After the last three weeks in frozen Alaska, America’s Toughest Jobs thaws out by returning to the continental United States. California to be exact for some monster trucking! This week the ten remaining members of the crew were put to the test through three monster truck jam courses. It all began with a little practice where some proved strong while others fell short. Before the practice began we saw a short segment from Rick who grew up loving the same truck he was about to drive. He went more in depth with his past, saying how he was homeless at the age of three.

With the boss overseeing everything the crew were always being watched and critiqued. Those who stepped up the game were the three girls and Ben, all doing well during the initial test and showing progress. The show tended to focus on those who did bad as it was the most entertaining. First up was Eric who is a bit schitzo it seems. After having his truck shut off by the boss he continued to cost down the track, almost running into a wall. Chris didn’t do any better as he throttled for too long, also having his car shut off. Even though he was told seconds before that he should brake if his car is shut off, Chris continued to glide scaring even the most professional guys there. Chris didn’t take kindly to the incident and, like his past driving job, gave excuses that made no sense. Last up for mistakes was Bryce who made a huge one. After learning the hand signals on when to start and stop, Bryce apparently forgot them. As the released gave him a thumbs up Bryce pushed the gas and sped onto the track. His car was immediately stopped as he almost his the official who was supposed to give him the ok to go. It seems a thumbs up means “are you ready” rather then “GO” and Bryce mixed the two up. It didn’t look good for him but others would thankfully save him in the end.

Now with the practice over it was time for some rest and the new day brought more dram. First things first the crew had to put new tires on two of the cars. The five who were working together on the boss’s truck were Rick, Rie, Steven, Eric and Chris. As they had the truck on a jack they tired to push the tire to bolt it down on the truck. As they pushed they ended up pushing the entire truck off of the jack, ending with a loud crash and one broken jack. The boss was glad everyone was ok but that broken jack didn’t make him happy. None of the guys really wanted to say sorry so Rie did it for all of them. As she did this Rick gave her some backlash, saying she was kissing the ass of the boss. Rie fought back though and claimed she knew how he felt and did it because she never had a father figure in her life. She then went on to say how her father beat her, forced her to stay awake and even put her in a dryer. I’m not sure how that related to the broken jack but at least it added some drama to the show.

Now that the tires were in place it was time for the real show to begin. Each of the 10 crew members were then put through a monster jam course where the bottom four would be up for elimination. Up first was Ben who proved, once again, that he was one of the better drivers. The boss said his jumps were that of a pro and Ben exclaimed that he would work for monster jams in a heartbeat. The ladies all went next and proved they could do the job. Sandy was happy the three girls represented well and wanted to show America that women can do any of the toughest jobs in America. Steven an Rommel went next and did a so so job, they weren’t shown that much because well they weren’t the worst.

With only four left you can see who was in the bottom four but let’s see how they did. Bryce was up first and although he didn’t screw up this time his jumps and overall performance wasn’t that great. The boss realized that he was scared behind the wheel and that was his reason for being in the bottom four. Chris had an ok performance as well but his past actions placed him in the finals. I think his mouth could have gotten him there as well. Eric screwed up during practice and the boss wasn’t shocked that he did it again. This time it was even more dangerous as Eric jumped the gun by pressing the gas petal before the light even turned green. He was very close to hitting another official but luckily all was safe. Last but not least was Rick. Although he had high hopes and loved the job he didn’t show it. He stalled out on the first jump by putting the gear into neutral and although he had a second shot it didn’t save him from the bottom four.

When it came to reveal who was the best and worst, Ben was selected as the best driver. He was glad to make up for last rounds mistakes and proud to be the best this week. The bottom four was mentioned above being Bryce, Chris, Eric and Rick. Rick didn’t think he deserved to be there since he did well in past jobs but those don’t count. The other thing of interested was the salary they received for a monster rally driver. Although they should have added $48,000 to the pot, $2,000 was taken away to replace the broken jack. Nobody really seemed upset but hey that’s money they didn’t have to lose.

For the elimination round the four in the bottom four had to perform a vertical jump. Eric was up first and impressed the boss by going vertical on his second jump and doing what the officials asked him to do. Chris was up next and although the boss though he would do horrible, he did pretty well by landing both jumps in an almost perfect manner. Next up was Bryce who shocked everyone with how well he did. The first jump was amazing as he went completely vertical yet landed the jump. The second time around was a bit scary though. Although the jump was great the landing… not so much. The truck ended up flipping upside down, but the boss loved Bryce’s enthusing and actually gave him the best score from those in the bottom. Last up again was Rick who was very cocky. Both of his jumps sucked and I’m somewhat happy that his ego was knocked down a few pegs. The judge seemed to like Rick but just couldn’t let him go through with a sloppy performance. Ending Rick’s time on the show and letting the remaining nine move onto next weeks job on an oil rig.

Just a note to make if you like watching America’s Toughest Jobs. Thanks to Hero’s returning, America’s Toughest Jobs will not move to Friday’s at 8pm est still on NBC.
