Soiltary 3.0 had a super fan this season and his name was RobRob. If you were a fan of Solitary you probably felt right there with him as he represented everyone who loves reality tv and finally got the chance of their dreams. We got the chance to ask RobRob a few questions about his life as Solitary 3.0’s Pod 4. He let’s us know how Val’s experience compared to his home built Pod and how his life has changed since the show.

Congrats on making the final two RobRob and congrats on getting on the show! It seems hard lately for fans of any reality show to get cast. What are your suggestions for those who want to apply for future seasons of Solitary or their favorite reality shows?

Thank you.  It was like a dream come true.  When anyone asks me about getting on the show, I like to direct them to the testimonial I wrote for the website which I got cast from www.realitywanted.com.  The direct link is http://www.realitywanted.com/newsitem/1616-a-note-from-realitywanted-member-rob-hekal-of-solitary-30.

Can you let us in on how you practiced for the show? You said many times that you practiced things like counting the minutes and writing backwards. Were these things you knew Val would throw at you are just things you did for fun?

To practice for the show, I built my own pod in my living room.  I decided to make it half the size of a real pod so the real one wouldn’t feel so confining.  I practiced most of the tests and treatments from the first two seasons.  But my main focus was on the 8 things that were similar between the first two seasons like beds of nails, eating, spinning, brain washing, time estimation, sleep deprivation etc… As you could see, my time estimation was horrible even after all of my practice.  It was shocking.  At first I tried to make excuses for it like Val counting or the eulogy, but we were all under the same conditions, so I just sucked and deserved to be hung from the ropes.  As for writing backwards, I have been doing that since I was a child.  I even taught myself to write left handed, and write backwards with both hands.  No one knows what Val is going to throw at them while in Solitary.  Most of the angst is caused because of this fact of never knowing what she is going to do to us next.
