For the past several weeks the CW has been pushing out 13 Fear Is Real. Over the course of the season several eliminations took place, horror flick style. Most were rather cheesy, like being hit by a fallen tree and having your face eaten alive. Now the game is in its final three and one of them will take home the $66,666. Not sure why you would go on a show for so little prize money, considering you can go on Deal or No Deal and win just as much, and possibly so much more, in two hours or so. But I digress. 13 Fear Is Real started off strong but became strange as the killer aspect to the show became pointless and unfair. Following their final two executions, before the finale, the final three remembered their past and were shocked how they in the top three. To get to their final destination they had to board a boat and headed off onto the bayou. Back in the forest it was time for some tenting and none were too excited.
After setting up their tent the three walked out into the forest where they found pictures of their fallen comrades. The pictures were from their executions and all were shocked at some of the things they went through. Two spots were still open, meaning two more were about to kick the bucket and the competition was on. The next morning the Mastermind told them to build a voodoo doll of their biggest threat and place a drop of blood on it. Ted made his of Erica, Erica made hers of Nasser while Nasser made his voodoo doll of Ted. That should be interesting considering they all have a voodoo doll now. Most interesting is Nasser making one of Ted, his biggest ally the entire game. At the alter the three sacrificed their voodoo doll with a drop of their own blood. It was a more of a ritual then anything as the final three were then led to their final execution challenge. One would claim the prize while the other two would be killed off at last.

The last episode of 13 Fear is Real saw the killer being killed off but tonight a new one was born. With Leah back in the group it was time to move yet again, this time to their most gruesome location yet. A slaughter house was their new home, dead animals and all. Their night began by assigning bedrooms: the girls in their own cubicle while Nasser/Ted and Adam/Cody took the other two rooms. When the sun rose the Mastermind revealed that Rodney was the killer and that the death box was reappearing in the kitchen. There was no lock and key this time around but the player who wanted it did have to remove it in secret. Everyone scrambled to look for the Death Box with Erica grabbing it first. She was one of the potential killers while Rodney held the power but this time she was really it. Nobody saw her grab the power and with her reputation last time she may not be seen as the killer, which is good for her.
When night fell yet again Cody get paranoid about being killed off and sealed his bedroom door shut as to avoid the killer. Um what if roommate Adam has the box? Luckily he doesn’t but still, a safe yet very risky move on Cody’s part. Ted wasn’t worried about being killed off though as he searched on his own for the now taken Death Box. Being that the girls were sleeping and Ted was alone, Erica looked to make a move. She grabbed the box and moved into the kitchen where Ted sped off. He saw what she was holding and ran away to avoid it. Knowing that Erica had the box Ted went to Nasser and revealed the information. Ted wants to control Erica into “clipping” people that he wants, it’s smart but with Nasser now knowing things may spiral out of control. Lets hope so!

Tonight the 13 Fear is Real killer was revealed and in doing so things were sent into a tailspin. After last weeks move to a haunted fort the remaining eight players were led to a new location: a haunted school. Before the move a few of the guys decided to scare the girls during the night. The girls, along with Ted, slept right through the noise and the guys ended up freaking out themselves. They saw a light at the end of a tunnel, finding a “real” ghost as they tried to create their own. In the morning Ted had a plan to make Rodney reveal that he’s the killer. Ted wanted to tell Rodney that he knows he’s the killer and let Rodney reveal that he was in fact the killer. Things seemed to backfire though as Rodney disagreed, forcing Adam to turn and believe Ted was in fact the killer. I know it sounds confusing, but that’s really how it came off on the show. A little further down the tunnel Cody walked alone and was told by the Mastermind to find a package and read it with the others. Inside were newspaper clippings about killed high schoolers, allowing some to make the connection of their next “haunted” location.
As night fell the players jumped on a bus and landed at the haunted school. Inside Leah, who has been surprisingly calm the entire show, began to freak out. A shrine for the six murdered students was laid out in the main hall. The challenge was to find a ring hidden in one of the classrooms. The six players to find a ring would be safe, while the losers would go to the execution ceremony. Things got even more crazy as explosions began happening around them. The school wasn’t the most clean either as things were written on the walls and items were thrown all over the place. The school was more like a huge haunted house than a real “school” but it sure seemed freaky. Cody got all into things while looking for his ring as he dissected a pig’s throat. He was the first to be safe while Nasser found the second while reaching into a deflated football. Inside the drama room Rodney was freaked out when a manikin came to life, forcing him to fall over. With Rodney out of the manikin room Adam was able to find the key and gain the third key. Ted was the next to get his ring while digging in pinata intestines and Erica the next while digging into a fish. Ted helped Melyssa gain the last clue, sending Rodney to the Execution Ceremony and showing their alliance was dead. Leah was heading to the execution ceremony as well.

Last week 13: Fear is Real premiered with a rather interesting episode and one of the original 13 being “killed off”. We were also left off with the Death Box being taken, once again and no clue on who actually holds it. Laura, Nasser and Rodney pulled everyone outside to show them the box was missing and paranoia began. Laura was being targeted since she “led” Nasser to the box to show him it wasn’t there. She claims that she did look into the box before she took the others to the box, making Nasser truly believe that Laura is the Killer and making the Masterminds plans come into full play.
While alone in the woods, Nasser heard from the Mastermind that accusing someone as the Killer would only work if everyone agreed. If they were wrong then consequences would be faced, Nasser didn’t care though since he called everyone outside and told them Laura was the killer. They all agreed, singling Laura out as the killer and the Mastermind revealed, over the loudspeaker, that Nasser was wrong. Since he “took matters into his own hands” and was incorrect, Nasser was placed into the execution ceremony and had a chance to leave. We then heard from the killer who was shrouded in shadows and their voice was hidden. It’s kind of cool that they are keeping the Killer secret to the viewers as we now can play along.

13: Fear Is Real paces, you guessed it, 13 players into the Louisiana Bayou to compete in a SAW styled competition where only the bravest survives to claim the $66,666 prize. The show is based off of several horror movies and is meant to force the players to experience real fear. The first few girls we meet claim to be afraid of most everything and are following into stereotypes. Another one obviously casted for a reason was Cody, a real life ghost hunter/rocker dude with mohwak and all. The scare tactics began early as the 13 were forced to walk the remainder of the way after their bus was stopped due to a “tree in the road”. At the end of the road their home for the duration of the game is in a broken down cabin, home to many horror flicks. Cody felt right at home while some wanted to clean the blood stains off the wall. Not sure but it seems some of them weren’t sure what they were getting into and weren’t ready to experience the fear produced by a simple house.
Lauren, the model, was excited to be in her own “horror movie” and most thought it was a movie when she applied, or was casted. Then we have Show who wants to be a rapper. Obviously they casted people who want to move out to Hollywood, at least they aren’t hiding it. While getting ready for bed something rant into the wall. As the cast walked outside there was a hatched with a note attached to it saying “answer the phone”. As the phone began to ring they realized it was under the floor. “The Mastermind” told them they were about to start playing a game, SAW much? Seems like its a real life SAW movie which could be fun, sadly nobody from the movie is actually attached to the show though. His first test was to perform a group ritual to test their fears. Someone had to stay behind on their own, and Cody decided to stay. They then had to pair up and walk down the road. Leah was freaking out since she doesn’t like dark or monsters but she still had to play. Some of the players then went down the road while the other half stayed at the cabin. Another girl, Laura, was freaking out but she had to sit in the cabin… just think how she’d freak if she was walking in the darkness.
