Ghost Adventures returns this week and takes on the Sloss Furnace, an iron mill in Alabama. When learning about the furnace the three guys were told that paranormal activity has been very prominent even before the furnace was shut down. Many men lost their lives working at the furnace due to the danger of the job. Two men fell into the furnace while several fell from the steps and platforms which are over 200 feet tall. One man was actually crushed with a large spinning wheel while two others were boiled from falling into a large vat of water. It was a very nasty job and many died doing it, creating the ghostly environment that the guys quickly encountered. One of the main haunts was Slag, an angry boss at the plant. They were told he was seen, and felt, in a hidden tunnel underneath the plant and they were curious if he would show for them. Two other researches who spent the night at the plant both said they were hurt from the ghost. One was slapped across the face while the others lungs were “squeezed”. Don’t know if I believe either but at least they built up the suspense.

As the nights investigation began things started rather early. While the guys were moving their equipment in Zak spotted a guy walking through one of the doors. It put everyone in the mood for the hunt and sent them directly into the hidden tunnel. There they heard footsteps but one experience beat any of them. Aaron was poked in the eye by, what they presume, was a spirit. He wanted to leave the tunnel right there and then but they made him continue only to hear more footsteps and freaking them out even more. They then decided to move outside for a bit and were surprised by a glowing light. They checked to see what it was but nothing was found. A mist was also caught on their one static cam, they weren’t there to check what it was though so it could have been anything. After moving down into the boiler room the guys starting hearing more noises but realized they should separate.

With Aaron in the control room Nick headed off to the hidden tunnel while Zak went back into the boiler room. Alone in the tunnel Nick was able to catch an EVP saying “I hate Zak”. Zak was having another spirit hate him at the same time as he pushed for Slag to show himself. He didn’t really show himself but did make himself heard. Zak continued hearing knocking on the pipes and caught an EVP saying “come here”. Back down in the tunnel Nick was having some more activity. He heard someone say “come on” right behind him, scaring him out of his seat and sending him running. Following that a mist showed on the screen with a prominent figure of an arm. It was hard to see but still very interesting and shows just how active the plant is. Following the investigation they took their findings to California for cleaning up. The guy who was helping them was able to make the EVPs sound much clearer and some of the mist clearer as well. Hopefully next week they find some more ghosts as they take on another penitentiary, this time in New Jersey.

The Ghost Adventures Crew Take On Brutal Prison

It’s Halloween night and time to spend some time with the Ghost Adventures crew. This week the three spent some time locked down in the the Moundsville State Penitentiary in West Virginia. The jail was on the top 10 most violent places in America and took pride in that position. Over 1,000 inmates were killed at some point inside the penitentiary so there were bound to be some spirits. During their pre-lock down interviews the guys met an old man who was actually an inmate in the building. He told them stories about people being boiled in soup and his friend who was killed during a riot. The curator of the jail also talked about being grabbed while down in the “Sugar Shack”. No not THAT Sugar Shack, no hidden immunity idols here. The room was the only place where inmates weren’t watched and was one of the most active locations along with a stretch of cells.

With their pre-lock down stuff done the guys then locked themselves into the penitentiary for the night and began their investigation. They had few findings to begin but then found a spot where the temperature dropped and their equipments spiked. Two of them saw something walk by so they followed where it seemed to go. It led them to the row of cells where the old inmate once stayed. Before setting up a static camera footsteps could be heard but none were caught on tape. While they were roaming the prison the static camera caught banging and scratching, sounds from the prison’s early years. It was very crazy as no one was there to bang the doors but you could obviously hear them! Before entering the Sugar Shack Aaron took a picture of Nick. Behind him you could see two evil looking eyes and those would follow them inside.

Down inside the Sugar Shack the guys could hear some odd noises but nothing too exciting. Nick decided to stay there alone and while down there he caught some great EVPs. Although they couldn’t hear them during the investigation they listened after and heard something say “I’ll kill you” followed by a laugh. While Nick stayed in the Sugar Shack, Zak and Aaron decided to head to The Hole. There they learned that one worker was killed and his head was also severed. They didn’t seem to push the ghosts there too much but noises could be heard banging on the boilers. Following that the rooms temperature dropped very low as you could begin to see Zak’s breath. He then decided to stay in the room by himself where he also caught an EVP saying “I’ll kill you”. That was about all for the night, no visible ghosts and not too much of anything else but a good show non the less! Next week it seems the guys run into a bit of ghost trouble in a small house, who knows what will go down in a poltergeist situation!

Adam Crowned the Winner of Big Brother 9

With the game of Big Brother 9 down to its final two it was time to crown the winner of the $500,000. It has been the series first winter series and broke new ground with twists galore. By starting with pairs for the first time ever to three players returning the game was different then ever before. Some loved it while others hated it but you must admit it was nice having a double, and now triple, dose of Big Brother in only a year.

The crowning of the winner had to start somewhere and that was with Sheila joining the jury house. Everyone seemed to think it would be her and were even talking about her as she walked through the doors. She seemed very upset with Adam at the time as she realized he threw the last challenge to make sure Ryan won and took him to the end. The rest of the jury seemed somewhat split as at times they favored Ryan and other times they favored Adam. Natalie, James and Chelsia seemed to take the idea that Adam was the better player, Joshuah, Sharon and Sheila seemed to fight for Ryan to win. Matty was the only one not going either way with who he wanted to win since he was friends with both.

It was then time for the questioning to begin and it once again seemed split. Ryan took the first heat as he told everyone that he would give Jen some money if he won. Everyone didn’t like that comment too much considering Adam said he would surely give $100,000 to open an after school program for kids. A followup question to that was from Chelsia who asked Ryan if he still loves Jen. He told her yes and the reasons why but Chelsia didn’t seemed to like that answer. I knew his relationship with Jen would hurt Ryan in the finals but some seem to be basing their vote simply on that. Adam then started to take some heat, especially from Sheila and Joshuah. Sheila tore into Adam as she felt he didn’t give her credit for him getting to the finals. She also felt Adam lied to her in the house throughout the game. I still don’t know if Sheila was just continuing her “act fighting” with Adam or if this was truly how she felt. Joshuah, on the other hand, tore into Adam as being not being a player. He didn’t agree with Adam throwing the competitions and also disliked the way Adam was “screaming at the screen”. In the end it still seemed unclear as to who would win and I’m still blown away by the vote.

With the votes then locked in Julie then told the jury members that one of them would be winning $25,000 thanks to a vote by America. They also had a few segments of talking with both jury and non-jury along with a few video clips. The first was a small discussion with Natalie and Matt and how they felt about each other. Julie told Natalie she may be in for some surprises when watching the show. This led to Matty apologizing to Natalie for anything she may hear before she even hears them. Next up was the feud between Jen and Allison which still seems to hold. Jen let loose and let everyone know she disliked Allison’s words about her after she was evicted and her thoughts that she was better for Ryan then herself. Allison defended herself by saying she had no feelings for Ryan and doesn’t feel the same for Jen now that she did in the house. The next few clips showed Ryan that Adam did in fact tell Natalie how he voted and also showed Joshuah’s fake tears that convinced Adam. I’m not sure why they squeezed these two clips in as talking to the other jury or non-jury members would have been more exciting.

After that small boredom it was time to crown the winner. Matt’s vote was up first which was for Adam along with Natalie’s who was also for Adam. With two votes for Adam it was Joshuah up next. He voted vote Ryan making it 2-1. Sharon was up next and surprisingly voted opposite of Joshuah which was for Adam making it 3-1. Sheila’s vote was next and it was like fate that her key gave Adam the win. With four votes there was no way Ryan could catch up and Adam leapt into the air, knowing he won the game and half a million dollars. After some time the two finally walked out of the house and all the houseguests waiting outside rushed the door. It was a great feeling to see them finally excited for someone to win the game as it came to a close.

But before we could leave Big Brother world until the summer it was time to give away America’s Favorite Jury money. It was pretty obvious who would get it as people somehow fell in love with James and he was in fact the winner. Sheila came in second which should give her some joy as I feel she did deserve the money as much or not more then James. In my final post for BB9 I’d like to say it was a great season to cover as there was continuous drama and random things that happened this season that will probably never happen again. Although it may not have been the best it did bring some enjoyment to our winter and hopefully even more this summer as BB10 returns on July 13th! Make sure to check back often for any after the show BB9 updates and BB10 news as it comes in!
