Today CBS released the 18 men and women that will be competing in Survivor Gabon. The seventeenth season will head back to Africa to showcase “Earth’s Last Eden”. Although no twists have been revealed, the cast has and that’s good enough for now! Get to know the cast now since the premiere on September 25th is quickly approaching! It will be the first time Survivor airs a 2 hour premiere and is sure to pack a punch! Here we go, make sure to leave a comment when you’re done reading and discuss the cast with others!

Ace / 27 / Naples, Florida / Jewelry Sales

Ace is the first Londoner on the show and one of the few of the non-American born this season. He says that he’s arrogant and his bio says he’s a “flirter” so could he be a male Parvati? He’s live in several places before so he may be a good worker at camp and he’ll probably be good at competitions. I have a feeling he’ll go far but after annoying some people he’ll get the boot.

Bob / 58 / Portland, Main / Physics Teacher

Bob is the oldest guy of the season and will surely be the “dad” for some I’m sure. He’s a teacher so he knows how to interact with the young crowd, which he’ll be doing a lot of in Gabon. His bio claims that he’s worked in several different professions and always enjoys a journey. His vast background and age may allow him to slide through for a few rounds as he becomes friends with all the “kids”.

Charlie / 29 / New York, NY / Lawyer

Charlie is almost an exact replica of China’s winner, Brian. The two love the show of Survivor, they both know how to play and both are gay. It’s really interesting to see that they casted someone so similar to Todd but if he wins then we will know why they casted him. He says that his strategy is to make people think he’s weak and to make big moves. He knows a lot about the game and I think that will take him very far and possibly the win.

Corinne / 29 / LA, California / Pharmaceutical Sales

Corinne is a self proclaimed bitch and only does her job for the money. I have a feeling she could become the new Jerri Manthey since she is only there for the money and always gets her way. She should be fun to watch and if she knows how to sell herself she could get far. The longer she stays the more entertaining I think she’ll become as fighting it always a good way to become “famous” in the world of Survivor.

Crystal / 29 / Durham, North Carolina / Olympic Athlete

Crystal is one of those that is casted mostly because of her profession. She probably has no clue what the show is all about since she was found, rather then casted. But her speed, strength and height will surely give her an edge when it comes to challenges. If she lets everyone know she’s an Olympic winner that could hurt her in the long run but since most “casted” people leave early I see the same for Crystal.

Dan / 32 / Boston, MA / Lawyer

Dan is the second lawyer on the show this season and I have a feeling he and Brian will either hate each other or get along rather well. He doesn’t really stand out as a big player but more of a threat in competitions. His bio focuses on his sports accomplishments, most being in high school. Although it does say he had a realization that his family means more to him then ever. If he can stay somewhat hidden he may do well, but I doubt he can if he’s dominating in challenges.

Danny / 26 / Portland, Oregon / Maintenance Man

Danny reminds me a lot of Ozzy. His bio says that he loves the outdoors, swimming and fishing. Although that may be the case his video interview makes Danny seem rather “boring” I have a feeling he could slip under the radar. He’s had a rough life so Survivor may not be the hardest thing he’s ever done. He also wants to be helpful everyone yet stay hidden, which will be a good idea if he does turn out to be Ozzy 2.0.

Gillian /  61 / Temecula, CA / Retired Nurse

I really like this lady! Not only is she familiar with Africa (she was born there) she’s also a retired nurse and over the hill! She’s the female Jerry in my eyes with a touch of Cirie. She loves the show and has applied for 15 seasons. Gillian will probably be the fan favorite this season as she’s funny and knows what she’s doing out there. She knows she can take on the “boobs and butts” of the show and become the oldest winner yet!

Jacque / 25 / Santa Barbara, CA / Medical Sales

Jacque seems to be the tomboy of the season as she loves the outdoors and competing in sports and other adventures. She says she can overcome any extreme conditions and Survivor will surely put that to the test. Other then that I don’t get much from Jacque other then she’ll be some nice eye candy for the show. Since she knows how to work amongst men and older people, I think she will do well as long as she doesn’t get on the girls bad side.

Jessica / 29 / Brooklyn, NY / Pin-Up Model

Jessica aka Sugar, is one of those that probably has no clue what she’s doing out in Africa. She looks like Courtney from China but I have a feeling her personality is very different. Jeff Probst as said she’s very emotional, naive and plays the game with her heart. If she is like that she may be an early boot but then again she could go far if she joins the right crowd. I don’t see her making any big moves but rather gives us some good confessionals and break downs.

Kelly / 22 / Buffalo Grove, Illinois / Retail Sales

I have a feeling that Kelly will do good in this game. She looks great, seems smart and knows how to be a leader. If she can do all that and join up in a good group she will go far. Although she doesn’t look like it, Kelly says that she is very adventurous which probably will surprise many. I don’t think she knows much about the game but like I said, she’ll need a good group to take her far but can do well.

Ken / 22 / Westminister, CA / Pro Gamer

For once Survivor has casted the nerd! I have a feeling he’ll be well liked by everyone on and off the show. Ken is someone who you would expect to sit back and let things happen but his mind will always be playing out the game. He knows how to win and is addicted to the show. If he can use his strategy of winning Smash Bros. to the game of Survivor he’ll surely do well and impress a few people along the way.

Marcus / 28 / Atlanta, Georgia / Doctor

Marcus is the one from the commercials and I think a lot of people knew he was going to be on the show. Although he is a doctor I don’t see him being the next Dr. Will. I think he’ll be there for a few rounds then get the boot once he reveals that he’s a doctor. He’s a threat, already has many and I think many people will take that into consideration when they vote at Tribal Council.

Matty / 29 / Pacific Palisades, CA / Personal Trainer

Matty seems to be someone who is there just for fun and nothing more. I don’t think he’ll be too much into the game and may actually get into a few fights. He seems to be someone that won’t really want to help out at camp or do too much otherwise as he’s a bit of a slacker. Maybe the show will teach him a few things but otherwise I think he’ll be gone early since he doesn’t seem to want to be there.

Michelle / 24 / LA, California / Music Producer

I think Michelle will be good on the show. Both for entertainment and also in the game itself. She’s very easy to watch, at least on their interview video, and seems to have her mind made up of how to play the game. I really see her going far in the game with a great attitude and some hardcore game play. I really think Michelle is someone to watch out for.

Paloma / 24 / Downey, CA / Student

Paloma is someone that will be very unseen in the first part of the show, similar to Natalie last season. She doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in her body, her parents were missionaries after all. Her bio states that she’s a social butterfly and that will either help or hurt her in the game. If she can control it and be friends with the right people she could do well, but being friends with everyone is never a good idea in Survivor.

Randy / 49 / Eagle Rock, Missouri / Wedding Videographer

Randy is a bit strange it seems as he tries to crack jokes in his interview video that just aren’t funny to anyone else but himself. I don’t see him being that annoying on the show but I have a feeling if the people are dealing with it everyday it may get on some nerves. Who knows he may be the new Jonathan Penner but I doubt that.

Susie / 47 / Charles City, Iowa / Hairdresser

Susie is someone I think will add a lot of life to the show. She’s doing it to finally do something for herself and I think that’s reason enough to like her. I think she can become the camp mom for her tribe and will hopefully not be targeted for being in the “older” group. Maybe she’ll even become the next Sandra and surprise us all with a fiery mouth! Hopefully that’s the case but we can’t know for sure until September 25th!

Reviewing the Returning Favorites of Survivor

Be the First to Comment

Everyone knows by now that Survivor Micronesia is a half-All Star season with 10 “favorites” returning to play against 10 new players known as the “fans”. The season is set once again in Palau yet no Palau seasoned veterans return as well as Guatemala veterans. This could be since Bobby Jon and Stephanie did a little mini-All Star thing in both seasons so they looked elsewhere to pull the favorites from. The ten that are returning are Johnny Fairplay, Eliza, Ami, Cerie, Ozzy, Parvati, Jonathan, Yau Man, Amanda and James. Below I’ll give my opinion on the 10 returning players and who well I think they will do.

Johnny Fairplay – Pearl Islands: As the only pre-All Stars player and the most notable villain in Survivor history, JFP has much going against him. He’s gained his fame from doing Survivor and has spread it well past 15 minutes. He’s showed up on MTV’s True Life, a rodeo show on CMT, a reality star Movie and the show to go along with it, and most recently on the Fox Reality Awards where his face was splattered all over the stage. I must say, I’m surprised that JFP is showing up in Micronesia. The producers know he’s good TV, but they also know him and Probst do not get along. What is to say Jeff won’t try to nudge the players to get Jon out? It’s similar to having Julie on the show for me, but in a more unpredictable way. I’d say Fairplay is going to either go early or go all the way. He’s there for a reason, and that’s to top his Grandmother lie. He’s not there to win and if they let him win then well they don’t deserve to be considered fans or All Stars.

Ami – Vanuatu: Ami is seen as one of the more recent female villains on the show. She stirred the pot and always had something to say. She created drama and that’s what the show wants but she gave little else. Her strategic moves were not thought out. She wanted to PROVE something rather then go for the win. Her fabled “all girl alliance” crumbled as quickly as it was formed and ultimately was the reason she was kicked out. Her and Eliza had an on and off relationship on the show and rumor has it they are now best of friends. If she can harness that friendship with Eliza, hide it well and actually play the game to win, rather to prove a point, she can do very well.

Eliza – Vanuatu: She was screwed over in and beaten by the “older group” in her season and I think she’s coming back with a vengeance. She played the game well from what I can remember but her mouth got her in as much trouble as Ami’s did. She played both sides of the game and ultimately that cost her as she was never “good” with one group but rather always that swing vote people needed and that’s what got her to the F4. Had Eliza gotten to the F2 I think she would have won and if she can tweak her strategy a bit this time around and play similar to Vanuatu I think she will go far.

Cerie – Exile Island: First I must say that Cerie is one of my favorite castways in the post-All Stars seasons. She one of the most “real” players the game has seen and I always love rooting for the underdog. She played the game well in her season and not starting fire is what cost her the game. She’s a hard worker, keeps her mouth shut and her eyes open and knows how to play and read people. But people know this about Cerie and know how she plays. Of course she is one of the more “nicer” players out there but they know she’s a very behind the scenes player. I think Cerie will go far, once again. I think the fans will be star struck by here and that could be in her advantage. If Cerie makes it to the merge she’ll go far, and I really hope that happens.

Ozzy – Cook Islands: I for see a very early boot for Ozzy and that’s the fault of his past performance. Everyone knows that Ozzy won basically all of the individual challenges in the CI and that’s reason enough to get him out. Sure he performs will at camp and doesn’t cause a fuss but he’s too much of a threat when it comes to immunity. He’s a very individual player who, although does perform ok in tribal challenges, outshines everyone else when it comes to individual challenges. Everyone knows this, the fans and favorites know this. Ozzy won’t go home first, but if they know what they are doing they’ll get him out pre-Merge or else he’ll end up in the F3 once again thanks to his challenge skills.

Jonathan – Cook Islands: I see Jonathan butting heads with Fairplay early in the game as they try to be the bigger “villain” of the tribe. Jonathan is a more calculate player then most as he’s always thinking of possibly moves and strategies. We saw him switch sides time and time again in his last season and I wouldn’t doubt it if he does it again. With the fans in the mix he is very likely to switch to them when a merge occurs so who knows where his loyalties will lay. I’m a fan of Jonathan and I think he cane take home a win. He knows how to play the game and I see he even found a new hat to entertain us once again.

Yau Man – Fiji: Yau was one of the breakout stars of Fiji and has several of the most memorable moments from Fiji as well (besides Michelle falling!). His power in the game came not from his strength or really even his strategic skills but his niceness. Everybody on that island seemed to love Yau even though he may have been hurting the tribe physically. He was a provider and hard worker and that’s what got him through the game. Oh he also had one of the two hidden idols which saved him once or twice. With a new season and a new cast Yau may be outside his element once again. He’ll have to fight hard to find someone to bond with as Earl is no longer with him to protect him. If Yau can pick up his strategic game play and find a close ally I can seem him go far but I fear he may be one of the first few to go…. sadly.

Amanda – China: How what can I say about Amanda….. she’s good looking? Ok her photo is a million times better this season then last but really what did she do last season other then stand behind Todd and give him the million? Amanda really didn’t play the game towards the end and that’s when we actually saw her. She won a few challenge once James left and made one of the biggest mistakes by taking Todd to the end. Will she be able to break from from Todd’s shadow and actually play the game or will she find someone else to follow? I hope Amanda does well as she was good to watch towards the end, but in a larger group she falls out of the picture. I hope she becomes a fan favorite after this season but I still wish Pei Gee would have been there over her.

James – China: Ok I lied, James made the biggest mistake of China by having two hidden idols yet not using them…. um duh. He knew he had a chance of going that round he even said it for himself! He has a great chance of winning the regular immunity so WHY wouldn’t you use the hidden idol? Stupid James… sorry for the rant. In his interviews James is saying he is going to give up a little on the providing and focus more on the social aspect of Survivor. Now last season didn’t people TELL him to do that yet he claimed he couldn’t? I honestly don’t see why James is here other then for the whole “favorite” thing. I honestly don’t see him as a favorite of mine as I tend to like more strategic players rather then ones who just win challenges and make it to the end on that. He wasn’t that great before and I doubt he’ll be that great again. Although I think he’ll make the jury, I don’t really want him to.

Well there you have it, the 10 returning favorites of Survivor. Some are more favorites then others but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a second chance. I for see a great season of Survivor ahead and hopefully the fans don’t disappoint either. I’d love to review them as well but I just don’t know enough about them yet. Their bios are up at CBS.com if you’d like to learn more about them personally but honestly I focus on the strategic aspects of people rather then their personal information. Survivor is set to premiere on February 7th at 8pm est.
