Small Mistakes Plague The Teams Of The Amazing Race 13

On the last episode of the Amazing Race 13 the Hippies were eliminated leaving ten teams remaining. This week those ten teams raced throughout Brazil having one of the most mistake filled legs ever seen on the show. It all began where the last leg left off as Starr/Nick and Ken/Tina were the first out of the gate and at the airport. Here they learned the earliest flight to their next location in Brazil was all full. As Tina persisted begging to get on the lady at the flight counter let them know the flight was raised to a larger flight, giving not only them but the rest of the teams availability on the flight.

While at the airport Terence and Sarah continued their crazy antics, complaining that Nick/Star/Tina/Ken were in an alliance and that they “didn’t say hello”. It was actually very funny to see them complaining about that but their quarrel didn’t stop there. Since Tina thought she got the flight changed for everyone she told them all that they owed her. She and Ken then decided to butt in front of everyone in line for the plan, setting Terence off. He didn’t think they deserved to get ahead and started to rip Tina apart. Ken stepped in to save her and the quickly stopped following the commercial break. How convenient.

In their new Brazilian town the teams in the front of the pack quickly ran past the taxi stop, giving those in the back a chance to catch up and get ahead. When the teams reached the clue box they learned it was time for a detour. They either had to choose “Beach It” and log a pontoon across the beach or search for a container at a shipping yard. Only Bill and Mark chose the shipping yard and although it took them some time it gave them an early lead as they quickly found the correct container. The other got a fun ride on a doon buggy across the beach and had some fun doing it! First at the ships were Terence and Sarah who quickly got their the task. Although they finished first they ended up wasting time by going the opposite way of the taxis. They ended up in a town, flagging down taxi’s that were already occupied and as we’ll see another team saved them and finally filled them in on their mistake.

Next up to finish the boating task was Nick and Starr who passed several of the teams. Christy and Kelly then finished but for some reason they began searching for a container in the sand. They misread the clue and thought they had to find a container, actually reading the clue for the other task. Making a stupid mistake cost them some time and put them in the back of the pack. Of course that wouldn’t be the last mistake the ladies made tonight. As everyone else finished their boat logging only the Southern Belles and Stephanie/Anthony remained. The Belles didn’t even want to do the boating task but after following the doon buggy in front of them they ended up doing it anyway. In the end they finished far behind but still felt proud for being able to complete it. Anthony and Stephanie weren’t too excited to still be in the back and remained there for the rest of the leg.

Before we get to the detours lets clear up the Terence/Sarah issue. After flagging down six of the teams in taxi’s, Dallas and Toni finally stopped to let them know were the taxis were. They realized how stupid the move they made was but sprinted back to the parking lot. There they realized they were now in ninth placed and thought they might be eliminated because of it. At the next clue the teams realized it was time for their first road block which only one person could perform. For this road block the teammate had to walk down a long wall with many advertisements posted on it. Hidden within the paintings was the name of their next location. Simply telling that location to the painter would give them their clue and send them to the next pit stop.

Bill and Mark landed first followed by Tina and Ken. Here Bill realized he had to right down a list of names on the wall and helped Tina figured it out as well. They both then got their clue and headed for the pit stop. Bill realized it was probably a mistake to give Tina some help as they were so close in the competition. On the drive to the pit stop Ken and Tina ended up passing Mark and Bill, placing first only a few minutes before Bill and Mark who gained second place. Along the way some of the teams continued to have problems. Nick and Starr had direction problems while Christy and Kelly misread their clue again, they forgot to ask their taxi to wait for them putting them, once again, behind.

As the rest of the teams realized they had to write down everything to find the clue some interesting things went down. During the time Nick and Sarah were out along the wall, Nick asked Sarah if she wanted to work together. When Nick realized Sarah just got there he shrugged her off, making Sarah hate him even more. Nick then moved on to Andrew who welcomed the help. After writing down all the names Nick told Andrew he would be right back if the clue was right. After getting the clue Nick decided to run to the taxi with Starr, screwing Nick over and letting us know in confessional that he didn’t care. In the end the rest of the teams finished the task with Terence/Sarah in third, Aja/Ty in fourth, Toni/Dallas in fifth and Nick/Starr in sixth. After realizing that their taxi was still sitting in the yard Christy/Kelly came in seventh even though they thought they were in sixth.

That left the final three teams at the wall as Anthony/Stephanie, Andrew/Dan and Marisa/Brooke. All three left the road block around the same time but Andrew and Dan along with Marisa and Brooke got there just a few minutes earlier then Anthony and Stephanie, sending the dating couple home. It was actually a bit sad as they really need the money, but thankfully they learned a bit along the race. They realized they don’t need much to survive and actually have more then most. Next week the teams take on a strange wrestling match so that’s something to look out for!
