Amazing Race 12 Final 3 - Who’d A Thunk It?
January 14, 2008 5:51 pm CBS, The Amazing RaceIf you would have told me that the father/daughter, grandfather/grandson and hippie team would be in the F3 of the Amazing Race I’d never have believed you unless I saw it myself. I mean I’m VERY happy how this season turned out with break out stars I never saw coming (Vyxsin/Kynt) and drama every week from a single team (Jen/Nathan) it was just one AMAZING race. For awhile there I thought TAR had died out but honestly this season was truly one of the best. The new twist to the non-elimination leg finally seems to fit well and the U-turn led to some drama earlier on as well a major mistake to the game, which is always good tv.
I’d have to say though there has to be some kudos to those who casted this season. They didn’t cast all the same people we’ve seen before, which is my main complain about a LOT of the past seasons, and finally gave us 11 very different teams. From the first elimination to the winner everyone will be remembered for something and each team brought something to the show. The one team I was honestly sad to see go was Kynt and Vyxsin. I honestly did not see myself liking them coming into the season but they are by far one of my favorite teams ever. They showed that they can be who they are and that people around the world do except them. They almost benefited from their personalities at times and brought so much fun and humor to the show but in a good way. The other team I found myself liking was Nate and Jen even though many people don’t like them. It was nice to see a REAL couple on the show rather then all the lovey/dovey ones we’ve had every season. They have real fights, they have real moments and although it made for good tv it will still real and amazing to watch. Their relationship changed so much for the race and to watch that unfold is what makes reality tv amazing. We are watching REAL people doing (usually) real things. Of course the editing made them more “tv friendly” but still those two teams are what made this season one to watch.
The final three teams are ones that nobody really saw coming. We have two of the oldest guys on the race in the F3 and both have showed they deserve to be there. Nick and Don have been great for the show. No they don’t really fight but just seeing them together is humorous and the one liners Don had were great! Then we have the “hippies” TK and Rachel who, after making up more then 3 hours last round, really do deserve to be in the finals. No they didn’t bring THAT much to the show throughout but the troubles they faced to get here make them deserving for the win. Then we have the most unthinkable to be in the F3 team to me and that is Ron and Christina. We’ve never had a parent/child in the finals (or a grandparent/grandchild either!) and them making it there is crazy considering how the race started. During the first couple episodes they were just incompatible and it almost seemed like they didn’t know each other. The way Ron treated Chris was hard for both of them and for them to change along the race is an amazing story. They not only raced well but changed each other into an amazing team. I feel all three teams deserve to win but Don and Nick have been my favorites since the start so I’m rooting for them. I’m happy for all three teams that are there and all three deserve to win, something that I can’t say for the F3 teams of past seasons.
