A few years ago at the start of Reality TV a little show called the Mole aired. It was different then other reality shows as it’s concept promoted lieing and deceit rather then making it an option. One of the players was the “mole” and their sole purpose was to sabotage the others from winning challenges and gaining money. The identity of the mole was hidden and only the producers and the mole themselves knew who the mole really was. Finding out who was the mole was the job of the other players and answering questions about who the mole was on a quiz sent the players home. It was one of the first shows that the player’s fates into their own hands as they were never voted out of the game but rather left according to how well they identified who was the mole. The show aired two regular seasons and two celebrity seasons before finally sizzling out… or so we thought.

 It is now being reported that the Mole is returning for a fifth season and being dubbed “The Mole 3″, showing that it will take the format of the first two seasons and have a “normal” cast with non-celebrities. The return of the Mole is a great shock to me as I never really thought it would happen. It’s been canceled for several years now and all of a sudden it’s coming back without any talk before this? They claim there were issues with the creator of the show and issues with the format and both have now been resolved. The new season will have a “simplified format” whatever that means, maybe they’ll just tell them who the mole is to begin with? The new season of the Mole is set to air this summer on ABC and is currently casting. If you want to put yourself through some mind torture for a few weeks go right ahead and apply. Just make sure the shows good so they don’t can it again and bring it back a billion years latter in a even more “simple” way.
