The Amazing Race Loses Emmy Award For The First Time

For seven straight years, the Amazing Race has won the best competition reality TV show Emmy. Many have asked that they withdraw from the running for a few years now, including Jeff Probst, but they would not. Tonight for the first time Top Chef beat out the Amazing Race for the title of best reality show and it is something that nobody truly was expecting, especially from Top Chef which has been waining this season. It will be interesting to see how this makes the Amazing Race change, if at all, and if the title goes to Top Chef and Bravo's head. With the streak now over, maybe shows like Survivor will have a chance to compete next year but for now, I think everyone is still in shock, especially Phil and the crew. read the rest and comment »

In Search Of Special Effect Makeup Artists

SyFy is branching into the competition reality show realm and is looking for special effect makeup artists for it's new show FACE OFF. The show seems like a mix of Top Chef and America's Next Top Model as the contestants will showcase their skills from gruesome masks to creating animatronics. There isn't much else known about Face Off but if you are a master make-up artist or just learning, the show is looking for you as they want all skill sets. Two Sent Packing As Big Brother Hits Final Five Stage

Big Brother sent two home tonight in its only live double eviction of the season. Following the Power of Veto ceremony where Brendon removed himself from the block, Matt was placed up against Enzo and things got dicey. Ragan immediately secluded himself from the house, especially Matt, as he just learned that Matt threw him under the bus. In doing so, Ragan realized a lot of things. One: Matt isn't a true friend, 2: it's only a game and 3: the four guys are aligned. I'm not sure how he pieced it all together really that the Brigade exists, but he did. Matt kind of toned that down a bit by saying it wasn't true, but I think Ragan knows it really is. Before we went LIVE, we saw Matt's last ditch effort to stay. He told Lane and Hayden that Ragan is onto the foursome. That keeping Matt would keep Ragan under control, as he is the only one that the Brigade will no longer have an ear to. They didn't seem to buy it though as Hayden and Lane easily voted out Matt, along with Ragan his so called "BFF" and "Showmance". Outside with Julie, Matt was super douche as normal and basically just said the same things he's said all season. It was then time to crown a new HOH though. For the power, they had to run through boxes, search through packing peanuts for two names, and place those names on their podium. The names represented the two players who held the HOH twice this season: Matt and Rachel. Brendon was the first to get a name, but Hayden was quicker as he found both plaques, placed one and raced back for the other. Inside we saw some rushed strategy talk as Hayden told Brendon that he would go up as a pawn against Ragan. That is exactly what happened, but wasn't 100% true. With the POV next they had to play the "Before or After" trivia game with Julie asking if an event happened before or after another one. In the end Ragan won the challenge and removed himself from the block. Britney took him place, and she knew this would happen, and Brendon was evicted with a three to zero vote. Outside he was very calm and actually funny while talking to Julie. He seemed confused though as to what just happened and will probably be a bit angry when it finally hits him. We still have no clue who the new HOH may be but with it now three vs two, it will be an interesting game to watch. read the rest and comment »

Iain Survives Three Eliminations, Crowned Top Shot Winner

Top Shot has found it's first winner and with a great first season, Top Shot 2 will premiere soon on the History channel. Down to it's final four competitors, Peter, Chris, Iain and JJ, there were three elimination challenges left before the winner would be crowned. The strategy portion was basically thrown out the door when it came time for the final competitions, not sure how much I like that but I guess time wise it makes sense. The final challenge was pretty basic, but pretty awesome. There were 12 metal paddles sitting inside a barn. One side was blue and one side was red. They had a minute and a half to switch all the paddles to their color, problem was their opponent was doing the same thing. After the minute and a half, the person who had the most paddles facing their color would win the round. The two losers from the first two rounds would face off in the final round with that loser being eliminated. Nobody wanted to go up against JJ, since he is the last pro in the game after all and is most comfortable shooting with a pistol, but Chris was selected to do so and the two faced off first. JJ basically shot every target a mere seconds after Chris did, making all but one his color at the end of the round. This sent Chris to the final round as Peter and Iain faced off. This one was much closer but in the end, Peter was sent to the final round against Chris. The two were both in the lead back and forth, but towards the end Peter began missing several targets, letting Chris catch up and win with all but one target being blue. That sent Peter out of the game and also making the final three all from the original Blue team. The final three were glad to still be there but both Chris and Iain were worried about facing off against JJ in the final two. Their second elimination challenge allowed the final three to basically make the challenge. They were playing a basic game of HORSE, first up would choose a target and the location where the target would sit. They could also choose the gun they were shooting with. The other two would replicate the shot, if they hit it they would get a point. Person with the lowest total points at the end would be sent home. JJ was first and chose a pistol shot at a small glass target 50 feet away. He thought that he could easily make it, but he missed. This allowed the other two to get an early lead, which Iain did, however Chris also missed making the score JJ: 0, Chris: 0, Iain: 1. Iain's shot was up next and he chose a shot glass hit at 50 yards using a rifle. He easily made the shot, as did Chris. JJ missed however, making him work to actually stay in the game. Iain was ensured a spot in the final two with his two points, but Chris had to make his final shot to ensure that JJ would be sent home. Chris wanted to play it the fun way and chose beer mugs at 100 yards using a rifle. He missed his shot, giving JJ the chance to stay but he missed as well, making JJ the last player eliminated from the game and Chris and Iain the final two. It's kind of surprising to not see JJ, a record holder and pro shooter, in the finals but it's kind of nice as well. After giving a good talk about how crazy it is for both of them to be in the final two, Chris and Iain competed in their final Top Shot challenge as their fellow competitors watched. They would have to use their skills learned during the entire competition in a challenge that had them pitted against each other. First skill was the throwing knives, followed by the archery shot, next up was shooting five bottles and then breaking a rope with a pistol. Next they had to shoot through a small glass tube, break five plates and lastly, shooting at a target both 100 yards and 150 yards away. The first to finish the course and shoot the last target would win. They were pretty much even during the entire competition with Iain slightly in the lead up until the rope task. Chris' lead was not long though as Iain surpassed him again and as both were shooting at the last target, Iain got a slight lead and that allowed him to claim the first every victory of Top Shot, the $100,000 prize and the title of winner. Top Shot was a great show to follow this summer and I've really excited for the second season to begin. It was also nice to see a "where are they now" type of segment at the end, seeing what everyone is doing now and how the show inspired them. I hope you all enjoyed Top Shot as much as I did, see you when Top Shot 2 premieres on the History Channel. Looks like Colby is returning, he's grown to be a good host. In Search of Paula Abdul Dancers

A few months ago it was confirmed that CBS was bringing the UK dance show "Got to Dance" to the US. A little later, Paula Abdul was signed on to lead the show and will apparently be it's sole personality figure. It seems like she will be hosting, judging, choreographing and doing a million other things but for now, she's just casting. The show is being billed as the "Paula Abdul Dance Show" but I doubt that will be the final title. They are looking for any type of dancers, from solo to group, and any type of genre and age.
